Calling all Federation Commanders - We are at War with the Empire

Yes this is why MM has had explosive growth since our recent inception.

We made a good-faith effort to reach out to the stakeholders but didn't know who to turn to. Do you represent a group? What's its name? Do you have a leader? We initially thought it was EDF behind Op. Blossom but they have not returned my message.

This is partially my fault, I am primarily a redditor and only recently have stepped up my forum game. But do understand it's the weeks of work that allowed this advantageous treaty to be created to start with.

No one can force you to do anything including abiding by a treaty you are not yet signatories to. But I implore you to join us in it, it truly is for the best of the Federation

That last time I committed to a relationship where someone else thought it gave them rights to tell me what to do ... it was my wedding day. Getting in to a space ship is my only retreat from that hell these days.

Friendly fire takes some disipline and talk. Agree with the team mates when you dominate a cg, that if there is ff you boost out of there and close up wepaons. That way its obvious whos who. I suggested this in any zone which was heavy with fri3nds in th3 lugh war and it worked a treat. Also its good to watch new arrivals. Then if th3y change red instantly you know they are targets.

It is a harsh system but workAble. Also shout in local the second you ff. 70% of people just shoot anything.

Well said, that man!

First of all I love how this conflict gives a purpose to what we're doing!

But I really wonder: What triggered the imperial attack on Volungu?

Was that really the background simulation reacting to the fact that a federation faction gained influence in a neighbouring system? That would be really awesome and prove the game world does exactly what it's supposed to.

Or was it Frontier admins injecting that after learning about Blossom? Still nice of them to help create some tension, yet that wouldn't be nearly as cool as the game automatically doing this based on the data.

<ic>I agree that defending the Empire in Volungu is far more important than flipping Liaedin, and vow to support this goal to the best of my abilities!</ic>

Rouge federation group known as the Earth Defence Force attacked Liaedin or another close empire system if I remember correctly.

It was there, and it wasnt ours. What more reason do we need. Hail the Emperor...Bask in His Greatness.

Silly slavers. You always need a reason to invade a sovereign nation. Even if it's so fake everyone can tell, a reason is a reason and that's better than none.

I understand, but that is not what I meant. I understand WHY it happened, just not HOW: Was it done manually by Frontier Developments staff or was it done automatically by the background simulation?

From what I have seen on this whole operation from day 1 up until the point the war broke out, I am 100% sure that war broke out in Volungu entirely from the background sim and with no intervention from FDEV. Which by the way, I think is awesome.

Do we believe that the war was trigged by actions in Liaedin or by counter actions in Volungu?

Patron's Principle influence levels in Volungu were high before Crimson Fortune Company started gaining in Liaedin. The Empire and their lackeys are spreading their propaganda as often and as thick as they can. They want everyone to believe the Empire are reacting to Federation aggression, but anyone that has kept track of the numbers knows otherwise.
.
As far as the background simulation goes, it is reacting to Patron's Principles gaining a lot of influence in Volungu. Prior to the support of Crimson Fortune by the Federation, PP actually held a majority of the influence. By the time the background simulation triggered, Crimson Fortune had recovered and the war shifted to the other irrelevant Federation faction (Public company?).
.
Why did Patron's Principles gain so much influence in Volungu? Well, it has nothing to do with what happened in some other system. They gained influence in Volungu because players played the background simulation to generate the influence.

Operation Update - 28/4/15

Federation commanders,

Your amazing efforts are not going unnoticed, we are absolutely smashing this community goal and the last report I saw this morning we had already made tier 3. Great work commanders, let's keep the defence up and get all the way to the end as this will surely help our cause as this situation develops.

The influence report in Liaedin shows that we did lose 6% influence to the empire yesterday but this is entirely expected due to you all pushing so hard on this community goal which we believe here in HQ is absolutely the right thing to be doing.

Be warned though commanders, I am receiving high priority intel reports about a new imperial counter operation being set up as we speak. They will be attempting to hinder our progress in this community goal by fighting in the Volungu war. Do not underestimate the force of this operation commanders, we have a big fight on our hands.

Fight on Federation commanders and fly safe.

Commanders, we have reports coming in of Empire commanders launching attacks directly on Jemison Refinery in a bid to cripple progress in this defensive goal. If you see this kind of activity taking place feel free to blow them out of the skies (but do try and make sure your outside of the no fire zone :))

Filthy Imps looks like I'll be on station protection duty.

I do want to emphasize that EIC members are not among those planning or launching these attacks, and any reports to the contrary are either lies, misinformation from confused witnesses, or rogues acting directly against the interests of the EIC. If you have information and corroborating documentation about any rogue EIC activity in Volungu, please share this with me via PM and I will pass the information along. EIC leadership is very serious about maintaining the treaty of Liaedin, and will investigate any potential violations.

Also, this loss of 6% influence is by design on the part of both the MM and the EIC. Both parties are pegging the influence of Crimson Fortune to 30%, with the Patrons Principles above 40% and Liaedin Electronics at roughly 20%. While minor fluctuations are inevitable, you should not see any further significant decrease or increase in influence from these standings.

Commander Swift Arrow,

Your adherence to the peace treaty of Liaedin is admirable but I think ultimately misplaced. Their can be no peace between the Federation and the Empire now.

The time of peace draws to a close and what stands ahead of us is war.

The Federation is rising commander, enough even to make the mighty EIC take note. We are fighting bravely and in the midst of these battles we look up and stare at that bright white light in the distance called Liaedin.

I disagree CMDR peace can be kept even if it's for a short time. We are at the knifes edge. The empire has declared that the faction muscling in on Volungu is unsanctioned and the EIC *East India Company* is urging it's members to fight for Volungu on the side of the Federation.

The Empire and Federation need stability and peace to handle the coming storm.

Again I must ask you to tone down your bellicose rhetoric. There can be peace.
