ok i have to admit, there may be a problem

Buy a Sidewinder. Write down the amount of cr you have. Spend 1000 cr for upgrades and cargo. Do some missions. You might be surprised how long it takes to pay for a A class sidewinder if you only have 1000 cr to start. It's easy to forget while flying a big ship and earning 1-2 Mcr/h without really trying to hard. The first million is the hardest.

it's really not that hard if you have a friend or two (which this guy apparently has.)

i give i give people more credit than they are due.

no, you're probably a nice guy in real life. we need more of you in the real world.

this ain't the real world though. it's a game where you need to watch your back.

All online games are full of scum. The older I get, the more I don't want to game with other gamers (except a select bunch who I know are not scum). That's why I play offline, in solo mode. I still enjoy the game. If I ever play in open I'll stick to cheap ships I don't care about losing.

Look on the bright side though - at least all your friend lost was a Sidewinder which will be replaced for free.

i just feel like scum is a little over the top for this behavior. Scum is like a word for murderers and rapists, not for "griefers".

Im sorry I don't see anything wrong here, I personally wouldn't do it, but if it was an npc in that Python you wouldn't have even given it a second thought

because there are shields and bigger ships than others.

full stop. quit acting like it's a huge offense that your friend got his free ship popped.

help him be better.
It is offensive. Just because it's within the 'rules' of the game doesn't mean people aren't allowed to be offended by it. Yes, the game allows players to play out being indiscriminate killing machines, but that doesn't mean it gives people carte blanche not to be called out for acting that way.

this exactly.

everybody moans and gripes about cmdrs being murderous scum and bad people. bull. this game is full of characters that interdict you looking for blood.

cmdrs are just better at it. that's the only difference.

The guy was a coward by running away and not engaging you....but your friend didn't lose much so. I hope you guys are gona keep on playing.

why doesn't everyone complain like this about the NPCs? who cares? have insurance and get better, or don't.

Sure, but the CMDR in the python didn't know that. And it's hard if you are on your own.

Obviously it's doable alone, but loosing a Sidewinder can hurt. Flying around in big ships earning the cr for a nice Cobra every hour or two somehow changes the perspective (at least it did for me).
Today I bought a Sidewinder and did some missions and trading in it. I constantly thought there must be some 000 missing before the cr. Flying around 15 mins until I found that stupid black box in a weak signal source - for 1200 cr. That A class FSD costs a lot of money if you have to earn it using a 4 t cargo hold …

ive never felt encouraged by the e:d universe to pick on harmless sideys in my python. but thats just me.

pls tell me how this behaviour including the ramming is encouraged?

i must have missed it

Firstly because you choose to play with honor. You have lots of options to seek revenge against this unscrupulous killer as he no doubt often carrys a bounty due to his behavour. Seek him out, ask traders to alert you if the think they are being interdicted, etc...thats all part of the flow of events. There will be good guys and bad guys, cowboys and indians, the Avengers vs Ultron, etc.

Ramming is just stupid. I blame the Unionhead rotting pilots brains, or just as likely they've been transporting dangerous waste for too long. However you want to explain away the stupidity you will encounter during life, you can be certain its ever present. Thankfully, this is just a game! :)

Exactly this. Human nature.
People saying "that´s pvp" probably and hopefully wont say "that´s life" about murder in RL, would they?

First, because NPCs are easy. Second, because they're not actual people with working brains who are deliberately setting out to make someone else's day worse for no reason other than that they can do so.

So: A) you can beat them easily and B) huh? the developers put them in the game to try and kill your ship. deliberately.

You should be all the time. Why isn't this game a free flow of new cool ships and easy credits? Why do the devs hate us so much? The NPCs say such psychopathic things sometimes!!

good grief. you actually think this don't you?

Considering you were in a python, how could you possibly not be aware of what can happen in open play ?

You're friend is a new player, if you just wanted to help him "get into the game", private group would have been the way to do it.

As it is, you're lucky the sidey was all that was lost. If that opposing pilot had been more determined or would have had friends nearby, you could have been toast too.

How is that behavior encouraged ?

It can be done, thus it will be done....that's all the encouragement needed for some people to do it.

Surely, that can come as no surprise to you.

your right.

but that same npc would have fought me instead of running like a coward

it's like you guys never played the game.

NPCs run all the time. They're constantly jumping out of the RES while I'm about to kill them.

Just suck it up. Have fun with it for crimeny's sake.

I am not naive, so yes. No doubt there are such people. And most of them lead other people.

And strangely I've never been interdicted by a NPC ship that was "much bigger class" than the ship I was flying. I think my first interdiction by a NPC Python was while flying a T-7. In a sidewinder? I think the biggest ship that interdicted me was a Cobra.
I would be very surprised if the developers didn't "balance" the ships that interdict players based on the ship the player is in.
