I've been searching He Bo for about two hours now and nothing.....haven't noticed anything strange and that.

hah, Yeah. The way I see it, anyone who is genuinely interested in the real reason will ask, or already know and just want the 1 mil reward.

I have a feeling you need a degree in signal processing or to be a HAM operator or something to figure that stuff out, if that's real. There's a lot of stuff "going on". I feel like we need one of those TV geeks to help us out - they would figure it out in 5 minutes.
This is probably another hoax, as the guy who posted it mentions," there is a hidden clue, but it's too soon to give more information."

Also, this recording starts with what sounds like a lot of radio interference and some odd loop of what sounds like a woman humming. It's only near the end that there is this weird garbled sound effect. Audio from the black box has similar radio interference but there's that constant loop of the distorted voice saying "this is a black box flight recorder, please return it to the nearest starport"

This sounds a lot like an excerpt from the album Delirium Cordia by the "band" Fantomas.

Brimstone THANK YOU!! I was going crazy with all the black boxes I picked up and I couldn't understand, what they said... couldn't find it here either .. no I have closure. :D

I would just ignore all these reddit hoaxers ...

Indeed if we have the correct item in the pictures I very much doubt you'll get radio 4 on it ;)

If we ever find the damn thing that is. :)

I never went any further than normal space. I stayed close to the sun or station most of the time. Sometimes when I was in SC looking for haulers I would stop and wait for WSS but never did anything unusual.

I'm really starting to doubt myself. Someboby would have picked one up by now.

FD have to be trolling us. I 100% picked them up.

Michael, you have to check my game files and confirm this.

Breaking the fourth wall for a moment, I think it's entirely possible that UA were previously more plentiful in the expectation that someone handling them would notice their secret, but when it became clear that we were just not paying attention and had to be explicitly led by the nose to the clue, then UA rareness may have been cranked up to prevent those explicit instructions from making discovery utterly trivial to accomplish. The mystery needs to last long enough for players to hear about it BEFORE it's already over. With what we've been told, it would be over in the snap of the fingers if UA's were only moderately rare, and so far very few players have heard about it. I would guess that two weeks is a good time frame for a mystery, so I'm not worried in the slightest about UA being hard to find :) I only get a chance to play every few days, so I like that the hunt lasts long enough that I get a chance to participate.

Now (back behind the fourth wall) my own suspicion is that WSS is more important than location - that you were finding UA's because you were camping WSS's, rather than because you were in a specific system. I haven't heard anyone else here say "I was camping WSS's back then too, but never found a UA" - I think most of us only went into WSS occasionally, while you dropped into quite a lot of them (plus you remembered the UA, plus you are aware of the search for a UA).

So, while I've looked in Timocani, I'm regarding WSS anywhere as potentials, so I'm going to try some systems that have more frequent WSS's.

Also, I dropped into a bunch of SSS in Timocani, and I don't think we're likely to find UA's there - I never saw any debris fields, just traders being attacked and dropping regular goods, merchant caravans (carrying regular goods), naval fleets (carrying regular goods), etc. The non-market goods that we're after seem to be more of a WSS thing.

That's a lot of firepower for just your average wedding... hmm I wonder who it was? Maybe in 1.3 we get more info on that kind of stuff.

It is still not credible that a wedding party would be in normal flight, not supercruise. It would be time for the first christening before they arrived anywhere.

It says

"This is a Blue Box flight recorder, please return it to the nearest Thargoid Station, Thank you" :p

I'm very certain this guy just took the normal background noise of the game and put his own audio effects and sounds on top of it, but that last sequence of noise... I'd love to know what makes that sound, or rather what receives that sound.

Oh I was joking

I'd say that's accurate. In Super Cruise you're visible to everyone with potential raiders standing by for interdiction. In Normal flight you can conduct your festivities / business in a much more guarded way because your signature is not easily detectable at first glance of the scanner. That's a technique I've used to evade pursuers before. Drop out of SC randomly, then keep boosting away from your SC cloud (which vanishes over time) and away from scanner range and you're in relative safety at that point.

This thread intrigues me so much I had to post my findings, It may be nothing but there is a bread crumb path of terraforming worlds that I've found in the galaxy map that lead all the way to CEOS and SOTHIS systems. Sothis (the further of the two) is an Ancient Egyptian Goddess. Ceos and Sothis are situated below Polaris about 630LYs from Achernar. This would be the longest trek out for me as I've only ever been out 300LY. No permits needed.

I'm in the Pleione system right now and can confirm that signal sources appear and are oddly common for an uninhabited system.

Right new bit of information

Just been talking to my friend, and before I start he doesn't come on the forums and I haven't told him about the Unknown Artifacts because he hasn't been on in a few days.

He said he dropped into a Strong Signal Source and saw 9 Vultures fighting and underneath them he said he saw something called and Unknown Artifact BUT, as he approached all the Vultures attacked him and he was destroyed (he was in a Viper).

I Bootis I think he he said he was in...

What the hell.
