So second time round I found If your plots take longer than 10 seconds then your doing it wrong. I think we talked about it in the earlier posts. I initially thought I needed a super computer.. but this time.. same pc.. hardly any route plot nightmare. try another method. good luck.

Well, the advice I had was a) turn on "realistic" mode and b) plot in multiples of your jump distance. Neither is doing any good at this time. Could be that the 660 Ti just can't handle it.

Oh dear, from what I'm hearing about these galactic core route plotting issues I'm seriously beginning to think that my computer is just not going to be up to making this trip (my ageing PC gets about 20fps on a good day with mostly low settings, driving a 1024x768 screen).

:(

plotting multiples did it for me.. well not exact multiples.. adjust them to what you think your avg jump is.. then if it stalls select and plot to one just a bit closer.
its bad luck if its not working for you..i feel your pain.. I lost a couple of hours to it on my first run and it was deeply harrowing. maybe the sadge gods demand a run before they'll let you plot with impunity. ;)
oh and I didn't use realistic. you cant see if the next stars scoopable easily with that.. just have economic and fastest off. as that's what takes the processing. other than the plot you want to make.

Yeah, I always switch to "fastest" then turn it off to preserve framerate. I switched back to "map" from "realistic" when it didn't seem to do any better. I'll try the multiple route again once I want to take a few minutes break.. sitting constantly the last 2 hours plotting :(

So I made it earlier in my conda, and im a lot happier with my time. jump range is the trick with this one. excited seeing Anuranium racing behind me. but I hope he doesn't beat my time ;) still if he doesn't im sure A lot will when he gets himself a conda. or even reloads big stick
Ooh, that sounds promising... Looking forward to the big board now :D

Also, glad the multiple-of-jump-distance trick worked out for you; it's definitely been proving useful for me pottering around near A*.
Sounds like I might have to head back now, though! ;)

I'm afraid the Nav panel will only show a maximum of 20 (?) systems, which in the core gets you about 4Ly. :D

Anyhow...

Controversially, I decided that uploading an entire 12-hour run video might cause me need to find a new ISP - and also a new set of friends, because nobody's gonna watch that!
So... I decided to do something a little bit different... Enjoy! :)

Do Not Deviate: A Buckyball Run A* Adventure by CMDR Alot

Absolutely brilliant.

Allright... done... Really anxious to see your time Kligg, this was exhausting for sure! Actually met a guy who has been traveling for 28 days... He almost passed out when I told him the time I used :D

Meetup in Sag A.jpg

Hurry up Z ;)

Yeah, I nearly did ;-D

And what a great timing. We nearly arrived at the same time!
I somehow envy you, returning home, instantly while I have to make my way back...

Well, I will make it worth while, going down ;)

Congratz!

Does neck-and-neck apply in a race between two big long snakes?

And there it is... Two of the fastest pilots in the biggest, baddest machine went head to head, but only one of them could come out on top. CMDR Kligg has taken the top time with 10 hours, 17 minutes, and 6 seconds, beating Anuranium by 19 minutes, 22 seconds over the course of 25,899 light years. Both amazing times. I don't have any pips to award, and you certainly both deserve an extra bumper sticker apiece, but all I can honestly offer is my amazement that a) such times are even possible, and b) you both did this again. Anuranium, 3 times now.

So the only question is now will Anuranium go for 4?

And was that CMDR Alot I saw hanging out at the Faulcon DeLacy showroom earlier...?

Meanwhile, CMDR Raiko has indicated he has launched in his Asp The Nomad. Good luck, Raiko! I would appreciate it if you targeted a time of 15h39m or greater. :p

Finally, we have an off-site registrant, CMDR IvanRuz piloting the Asp GrandLeon. Welcome to the Buckyball, Ivan! And good luck!

So, Kligg, Anuranium, assuming either of you are still conscious, what did you do differently this time around to cut your times? Inquiring minds want to know! :D

Kligg, your sponsor should be happy. Just remember, you didn't sell out. You bought in. ;)

UPDATE: The Spirit of the HOOP has just transmitted its arrival at Sag A*, the first Hauler to make the Run. Congratulations, CMDR Jones! Step forward and receive your Sag A* pip and bumper sticker! I will update the Big Board so you get on today's scoreboard!

Allrigh, Congratulations Kligg! That is impressive!
What did I do different? Threw out my scanners and cut my fuel tank in half. Still having trouble plotting near the core though.

Allright, at least I shall be the fastest guy back to Galileo, now where is that self destruct button..?

just found out about this....trying to get back to inhabited space so I can take part...my Anaconda is big enough to give you boys a run for you money

Thanks for the race Anuranium, that was close, I was really lucky with plots most of the way in 5 secs or less. I took the 32 tank not the 16 so I may have been heavier than you.. so theres room to get under 10hrs I should think easily. it helped me through the inevitable aucocks of it all. my time should last until a lot gives it another crack so im happy.

thanks for putting up the board Ez. the way I cut my time was use a ship with a bigger range. simples. ( I did do 14k of training in the last week though , but only 4K in the conda)
the sponsors are well happy thx, that class 7 fuel scoop wasn't cheap.
I cooked the console quite a bit, wear and tear should be eye watering when I get back.

Congratulations both of you!

Those are awesome times.

I'm currently 2 hours in 4000LY from Sol, so I'm on my schedule, but miles behind your's! :)
