Well, finally finished my run off with a rather shameful 5 days, 4 hours, 26 minutes and 6 seconds. Time to head back and start again...! :D

Didja ever get that really weird feeling of deja vu?

Big news on the big board!

History is being made once again. That's right, your eyes do not deceive you. We have our very first Sidewinder on the pad. CMDR Kyra Inari has brought the Don't Look Back up to the staging area for a run to the center! Ladies and gentlemen, the Sidewinder Challenge is back on. :D Good luck, Kyra, we're all pulling for ya!

Let's see, we've also got our first transition from the "unofficial" board to the "official" board, with CMDR Reload completing a leisurely five day voyage in his Anaconda Big Stick, earning himself the coveted star pip and bumper sticker! Atta way, Reload!

And let's see, something else happened today that seemed kinda important. Can't quite remember what it is. It was something significant if I remember.

Oh yeah, Alot's back in first place! :D Rhonda the Conda set a new non-stop Sol to Sag A* record with a time of 9 hours, 39 minutes, 19 seconds. That's right, it takes less than 10 hours to travel 25,899.99 light years. So anybody who's whining about making a 200-300 light year trip because its "too far"? Here's your reality check.

I understand we still have a live video feed of the new 2nd place finisher, CMDR Kligg:

Yep, looks like Kligg's doing fine. I'm sure he's as thrilled as the rest of us are to see Alot set that new record, knocking him off the top slot and taking over the top time for the Anaconda in addition to the Asp class. What else can I say to Alot, every time he's shows up for a Buckyball he proves you can always go faster.

There really is only one thing to say: One bumper sticker per CMDR, Alot. :D And congratulations on another record-setting time.

So is that it then? Should we just mark Alot's time as the all-time winner and move on? Or is someone out there already planning to do better?

Do I hear eight hours...?

Geesh that's what I've been saying! :( Does everyone skip my ramblings or what?
Apologies! I think I probably read it not long after my first run... Which means I might as well have not read it at all, because I was completely frazzled. :p

Now we're talking... Good luck Kyra!

I'd barely arrived before Kligg was plotting about how to go faster. This ain't over, I know that much. :D

Congratz to Alot, I think that time deserves a 3 gin (err, that was meant to be "gun" but I prefer the typo) salute ...

o7 o7 o7
Haha, thanks very much! I agree, the 3 Gin Salute is much better - and significantly less terrifying when you're not expecting it.

One more shameless plug: I'm making a "best of" Buckyball video, and am collecting footage from previous Buckyballs from anyone and everyone, fancy flying and pretty explosions alike.
If you've got footage lying around (or on YouTube) and haven't done so already, give me a shout via PM! I might have enough raw footage to finish the video right now, but it's almost entirely from about five CMDRs. It's always good to have variety, right? :p

hmm, how did I miss this run... damn you onionhead! I'll just have to turn the USS Spinal Tap around again... and pick up the glove (to smell it? teehee). I just hope my T6 survives interdictions from here (in the void) to Sol and back out to SagA*

I'll post my particulars after stocking up, kicking out the band, and stripping the bus down to bare minimums.

Congrats Esvandiary!

Well done Reload....

But you know that we're all waiting for the video of you FA-off boosting sideways through the slot in Big Stick! ;)

Oh man, you've set the challenge now...!
Haha... I must admit my first thought was actually "well I know it won't fit through sideways, but does it fit through the slot at 90 degrees yaw?" :D

Maybe I'll have to put some shields back on and give that a try once I'm back within 25kLy of a station... It might need decent thrusters though, which sound expensive!

Good grief, Alot's got his own cheerleaders now. I guess it's time to roll out the Alot action figure... :D

[...]

So Kulzar/Correspondant Chamberlain, is a new non-stop Sol-Sag A* speed record newsworthy? :D

Is this worth a news story? HELL YES. Alot beat the galactic record TWICE in less than a month!

That's an incredible accomplishment! He deserves an infinite amount of high fives!

I expect to get an exclusive interview with you, Alot! :D

You know what? I'll do it. I'll go to Sgr A* and come back. In a somewhat reasonable amount of time.

Name: CMDR Kulzar
Ship name: Scoop Express
Ship type: Hauler

Let me get some food ready first, some stuff to munch on and a lot of energy drinks.

Edit: Predicted departure: Monday May 18th 3301

+ better ship name

Radio Sidewinder should have a small clip up with-in the next 24hrs regarding CMDR Alot and the broken record.
Audio recorded, it's over into the hands of the Post-Production and Editorial Staff.

I'm a bit too busy with RL stuff to organise an interview with people at the moment.
So I'll leave that up to you, Kulzar. I look forward to hearing the interview with Alot.

Well, I actually do written pieces only. However, I think it would be a great idea to share the story between Galnet and Radio Sidewinder. Maybe you should still try to get a voice interview? If Alot agrees to the interview(s), of course. =)

Crumbs, I'm not used to being in such demand!

I'd be happy to do text and/or voice interviews, sure!
I did one for Galaxy Tonight a month or so ago, and apparently it was passable enough that Caradres and Chip aired it :p

That was BEFORE you beat the record again. ;)

I'll send you my questions when I have some time, as this is probably not a time sensitive story.

If one of you beats Alot's record, I'm going to be alot angry. :p

It was actually about Buckyball Run 7 - the interview was probably about two days before BBR A* started in fact, haha.

As for someone beating my time - no problem, joint interview with the new record holder :p

while my sponsors want me to run to get some air time.. as being a million plus ls from V1090 Herculis in kaku plant, they don't get many customers for there invigorating rare body rub.
I think I can speak for all of us buckyballers apart from bucky of course when I say I think you've got the right man. I can see alots new record lasting a fair while, unless someone else has 200 mil and a day spare to give it a bash.
I may wait for 1.3 so I can get a 3 jump fuel allowance with a 16 and 8.. or some lighter combo than the crutch a 32 gives. have a goody.

By my calculations, it is beatable (just). Unfortunately I don't have the money for an Anaconda, but I will state my intention to have a go at beating Alot's Asp time - once I get back from this first trip to Sag A*, that is! (so probably in about four weeks' time)

If you fly the Asp anything like you flew the T6, you should be able to fly past me handily :)
