4,700 LY from home!!! I think I should be home by this evening :D

In other news... I almost lost more hull % again...

This was almost similar to the one that took off 25% of my hull. The only difference was, this was only a binary system. That one was a trinary system, with 3 stars in close proximity. Good thing my mic was off when this happened :D

Hey ElectricZ is your inbox full again? Looking forward for reply

if your just after the scan cash you cant go far wrong going -1000,-1000, 24000 ish and heading back to sol via the neutron field that stretches to 17K,i scanned a hundred holes and then plotted back , there were too many.
if going a thousand light years sounds like its out of your way.. you've just come 26. so its nothing.. check it out on map with just non sequence selected. or see the pic below I posted earlier when the thread wasn't so long that it was being read. ;)

Thank you very much for that, it looks extremely fascinating and is exactly that kind of location what I was looking before. I never met a neutron star before, what's the right behavior when approaching them, will it also melt me like the BH when I get too close?

Fear my amateurish-at-best video editing skills (and I really do mean to be afraid. It's scary)!

My BBR7 blooper reel is up:

Doing it Wrong or (How Not to Win the Buckyball Run)
Complete with chuckling. Hope you like it.

LOL, that was great to watch with my morning cup of coffee, almost snorted it back out my nose a couple of times viewing that :D
Good stuff, and nothing wrong with your editing skills :)

Very good :). My particular favourites are the Viper bounce onto the launching pad (at about 02:00, that approach starts about 01:30), and the Eagle faceplant into the station wall at about 06:00. I've said before that these stations put their walls in the most inconvenient places :D.

err this may sound strange but I feel incredibly guilty you paying postage and printing for a bumper sticker for me ez.. so I haven't sent my mail address.. send me a pm if you want to do a swap for one of my efforts at a retro poster.

Thanks for the link to the posters - I like them, and think yours are some of the best on that thread.

Basically just hit the X key REALLY HARD, when you enter the system and don't get closer than 16 lightseconds. The rest's a piece of cake.

hey im not giving away all my crazy flying into station wall tips are you crazy.
nice transition at the end but.. I think you needed me to be in an asp. looking at the logo.. its the shipwrecked and comatose isn't it?
great vid.. but do not deviate gets all the win from my camp still. I still chuckle at the thought of Sammy davis shouting tunamage
Haha... Yeah, that "Tuna Mage!" shout is still one of my favourite bits too :D
The A* sticker does indeed have the Shipwrecked and Comatose on it, but the "normal" Buckyball Run logo (you remember, the one for people who aren't completely nuts) depicts a Sidewinder, as shown on the final shot :)

Excellent. I already saw them without the text commentary, but that definitely adds something. :D

Hooray, safe (continued) journey! Hopefully no more nasty binary stars to peel the paintwork. :p

I was kinda hoping that he'd fly literally into the "WELCOME" sign, rather than right next to it. :D

For the next Buckyball Run, there probably needs to be a side "competition" keeping track of number and value of insurance claims during the race. I think Rankaze may have "won" on that count for BBR7 :D

EDIT: ...though that may just mean that he's admitted to more crashes than others! :)

Forget the next run, I think I was probably about half a second from winning the BBR A* one (for value at least) with that link I just posted! :p

I hear ya, man. Bumper Sticker Equitability Syndrome. It's a real thing. You're not alone. And there is help. And that's to forget all that Aucoks and remember that you planted your butt in a seat for 10 hours, 17 minutes and 6 seconds scooping and jumping and scooping and jumping for the promise of a free bumper sticker. Promise I did, and promise I shall keep! You earned that bumper sticker. So nut up, shut up and send me your mailing address before Bucky shows up over there (he'll find you, address or not) and staples your bumper sticker to your forehead. He'll do it, too. He's got a special staple gun and everything.

That goes for everybody out there. Take the bumper sticker. Don't mess with Bucky.

Really, though, the cost for the bumper sticker and postage is negligible. I've get enough fun out of reading all your exploits to more than make up for it. So don't worry about it. It's covered! For the record, though, this only counts for Buckyball Run A*. Come Buckyball 8, it's back to virtual bumper stickers and a dot on the leaderboard. :p

Now on the other hand, you wanna send me one of those sweet, sweet retro posters, I won't complain. :D Shoot those would make perfect postage stamps for the BBR A*. Unfortunately I got stuck with the USPS 2013 Global Forever stamps which are holiday wreaths. But they're round, and if you squint, they look kinda like a Buckyball. Sorta. Well, not really at all.

Just take the damn bumper sticker, all right? :p

Oh, I very nearly just did something extremely stupid (but highly appropriate)...

I HAVE MADE A TERRIBLE MISTAKE

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUGHHHH!

Don't need my caffeine this morning now. Thanks Alot.

Alrighty then! Without further ado... :D

The Good, The Bad and The Bucky: Highlights from the Buckyball Run

Massive thanks to everyone who helped out with footage or other assistance; special mentions have to go to...
 • Kligg for helping me capture the last little bits of footage I needed before I bombed off to A* the next morning
 • Rankaze for furnishing me with a wonderful variety of clips, many of which included his fantastic chuckling (seriously, it killed me to have to remove those audio tracks, I wanted to keep them in somehow but I couldn't find a way to make it fit)
 • Iron Lich, Ekol Tieja and Takaru Minari, for taking time out at the core to grab some video for me

Finally, as always, a huge thanks to ElectricZ and Bucky for continuing to organise and run these. Right on, CMDR. :)

RIGHT ON CMDR ALOT! That just made my entire weekend.

Totally makes up for the Liquid NaK coolant leak on the "?SYNTAX ERROR" that has kept me quiet for a few days...

Seriously : sealed liquid-cooled aftermarket coolers are NOT FUN when they leak and destroy GTX680 graphics cards. Lesson learned: leave liquid cooling to the nutter 1337 brigade.

Haha... Yeah, it woke me up a bit at the time too. :D

Posted that link in an IRC channel with some friends of mine, including my other half; she watched it and said "hah, who did that then?" "... I did..."
She looked over and gave me that sideways "you idiot" look :D

Glad you enjoyed it... And oh crumbs, sorry to hear about that!
If you'd take a minor downgrade, I actually happen to have a GTX670 that I'm looking to sell... (It's not water-cooled either!)

We can still print 'em out and stick 'em on stuff! :p

Gee I would have thought they'd at least make sure the liquid was non-conductive and non-corrosive...

Do you hear that? It sounds like a record shattering...

OK so the past few days saw three, and hopefully four, ships complete the trip to Sagittarius A*! First off is CMDR Kulzar, our friendly GalNet correspondent Léonard Chamberlain who streaked into Sadge in the Hauler Scoop Expresswith a time of 17 hours, 42 minutes and 6 seconds. Scoop Express lived up to her name, setting a new record Hauler time from Sol to Sag A*, while simultaneously tweaking Radio Sidewinder correspondent Ceska Zbrojovka's nose as he shot by. Congrats, Léonard!

We also had CMDR Symbiont's record-setting run in his Imperial Clipper Ranger 3, who completed the run in 25 hours, 56 minutes and 11 seconds, and if I understand correctly, this was done non-stop, potentially making Symbiont the most determined or most stubborn commander of the whole race. :D Either way, congratulations, CMDR!

Lastly, and I do mean lastly, :D CMDR M3tzg3r in the appropriately named Wayward Asp sauntered his way to Sadge after a leisurely cruise lasting 20 days, 6 hours and 51 minutes. Hey, it doesn't matter how long it takes ya to get there, as long as you get there.

Speaking of which, CMDR Darayavahush has been providing updates to his position as his Viper Hutautha's Prophecy streaks across the Milky Way in what has got to be a true endurance run for the short-ranged fighter. Darayavahush, back in the early Buckyballs I ran the course in the shortest ranged ship possible to find out what the minimum jump range would be and about wanted to blow out my own canopy on a 150 LY run in a 13 LY ship... I know now that is absolutely nothing and can't compare to what you're doing. You've truly set yourself a momentous task. I sincerely wish you success! o7

Finally, we have another new hull class to welcome to the Run as CMDR Umbasa's Python Normandy SR2 settles into the staging area. I'm Commander ElectricZ, and this is my favorite entry in the Citadel...

OH YEAH! And bumper stickers. Outbound today we have CMDRs Symbiont, Takaru Minari, M3tzg3r, Kulzar, and Khol. You should see them in your mailbox in a week. CMDR Madoc Owain, yours was supposed to go out with the last stack but due to a postage error it is going out today, and should be there early this coming week.

So, bumper stickers, star-pips and Congratulations all around for our most recent finishers, and welcome to our newest contestant!

EZ out.

I AM HOME!!!

And the data for Sag A* sold for 317,000 creds... not too shabby.

Fun fact - LTT 7548 is the furthest Fed world from civilization. There are no inhabited systems beyond it :p Suits me just fine as the first Fed and High Tech system I come across, so I can land and sell my data.

Speaking of selling... geesh it's sloooowwww...

Well you do know how to scare someone - are you trying to make up for my near-Annihilation earlier? :D
I literally just hit "Submit Reply" to a certain CMDR Chamberlain with an interview about my A* runs, and I scroll down to read that! :p

That is quite the feat if so! I was flagging pretty badly after 12 hours in the Asp...

Excellent Buckyball spirit, M3tzg3r!

To be honest, it was rather completely stupid. I just didn't expect that it will take that long with 25ly jump range in the beginning, or it doesn't and I was just too slow. That was my first long trip/exploration at all probably that is the reason for all the time I needed for the trip

My only breaks were when I was closer than 1.500ly and route plotting took forever
