The King is dead. Long live the King!

So it looks like the Herculis Body Rub people are getting their money's worth out of CMDR Kligg. Kligg set out on his third run in the Officially Sponsored Anaconda Rub Tub (because Rub Dub makes no sense, duh!) to break CMDR Alot's hold on the first place spot on the Big Board.

And break it he did, along with the top time for the Anaconda, as well as setting the new Sol to Sagittarius A* Non Stop Speed record. Congratulations, CMDR Kligg for setting the new time of 9 hours, 31 minutes and 16 seconds, beating the old record by a scant 8 minutes. I don't know about the rest of you, but I have the sudden urge to exfoliate!

Alot, you still have the top time for an Asp... for now. ;)

Also finishing was CMDR Darayavahush's Viper Hutautha's Prophecy, pulling into Sadge 67 hours after departing Galileo. It's not the fastest time on the board, but it's the fastest for a Viper, and with the amount of determination it required to finish Buckyball A* in a short range fighter, it's a record that's likely to stand for some time. Congratulations, Darayavahush!

And our last arrival of this period is CMDR Jareth in his Cobra Labyrinth. Jareth had a bit of trouble with his flight data recorder, but after an all night session utilizing the most advanced recovery algorithms available (combining stochastic computing and a Magic 8-Ball) Bucky was able to work it out. Congratulations, CMDR Jareth! You made it! o7

All three, step forward and be recognized with your Big Board star-pip and bumper sticker. Don't forget to PM me your mailing address if you've not already done so for your O-fficial real world Buckyball Run A* bumper sticker!

Elsewhere around the racing circuit... Two more pilots have begun the short, easy and incredibly fun journey to see Sadge! CMDR DreadedLurgey has set off in the Asp Bessie, and CMDR Yodead in the Sidewinder The Little Sidewinder That Could-

Wait a minute. Yodead? Your ship has a jump range of 10.73 light years. Did you forget to pack an FSD? Do I need to pull out Alot's laughing guy from Spider Man? You're serious? Wow. Well... Yodead, if you make it, when you make it, we'll have to commemorate your journey with some kind of special award. Keep us posted on your progress! Let us know you're okay. And we'll see you sometime in 3350. ;) Good luck, CMDRS!

Wrapping things up, we have a trio of Asps parked in the staging area: the G-SINK, piloted by CMDR The Coat, veteran of Buckyball 6 (welcome back, Coat!), the Le Cherche Voie helmed by CMDR Emua, and the Red Devil, piloted by CMDR DoubleSkulls. Good luck, and hope to see you in space soon! Some of these slackers have been vacationing in at the starting gate for a month now. ::coughRANKAZEcough:: :D

And for everybody who's made it back, there's no after party but remember you do get a free dinner entre on your next visit to the Shotgun Shine. Last I heard, Mirana had it parked at Townshend in 78 Ursae Majoris peddling drinks to all the CMDRs flying CAP out there. Because if there's anything that mixes well with alcohol it's beam lasers and multicannons...

Wow, and I thought i was crazy...

[...] You would have to be insane to want to fly something like this to Sag A*, but you will be very, very comfortably insane.

I like being comfortable. :D

Bravo, Commanders. Bravo.

Oh, and I just noticed that my Sidewinder is apparently called the Udesided (rimshot) on the Big Board. Guess losing an 'n' is the price to pay for one too many puns in one run.
..and it's still totally worth it.

Really? Look again. It looks like it's spelled right to me. See? It's there plain as day. Maybe you should get yourself checked out for space madness.

Look, I keep telling all of you Bucky doesn't make mistakes.

"Heyo boys and girls, Mad Max 'ere!"
"Just pulled up next to Sag A, that umphing big eye-sore of the core. Nothing to see here, I guess"
"Will relay flight data records within minutes to ElectricZ."
...
"Hey, have a look at what i found on my way: An ELW!"
MadMaxProgress3elw.jpg
"Had to check for lights on the back... Nope, no-one at home here."
MadMaxProgress3elwback.jpg
"Mad Max out!"
...

Ethelred checking in.

My intention is to wait for powerplay to drop and then take the old gold and black Wanderer out and sell the exploration data on my return to whichever faction rewards explorers (provided they aren't the Empire or Feds).

I'll be in the Quite Busy With RL Including Having Young Children And Only Limited Time To Play division so I expect it'll take me a couple of weeks.

The King is dead. Long live the Kligg!
Fixed. :p

Ceska's otter may be surprised, but I'm not... I know a fellow speed demon when I see one. :D
Perhaps I shall have to sort out a competing sponsorship to fund the 7A fuel scoop... Hmm...

Excellent time Kligg, and nice explosion too! Enjoy your well-earned rest... Assuming you're not jumping straight into a Hauler and going back out... :p

thanks guys, it was touch and go when the plotting started taking minutes at 23K , even after all my crowing about magic numbers.. weve got to get the sol to sadge down under 9hrs now!
I should have released a ton of body rub into sadge to exfoliate the hole pardon my french.. but to be honest I couldn't be bothered going to get one... its such a silly long SC. they are not helping themselves.

ive done 150k ly in the last month if you add in my training runs so ill give it a rest for a bit now. even when a lot retakes the lead ;) though I am tempted to asp up and hit the neutron field again.
how about a shorter endurance bb so more peeps can do it in one sitting? .. like round barnards loop or the horsehead and back... that should only take a couple of hours.

Well done again Kligg! :)

I'll rep you again if I can.

Looking forward to seeing Esvandiary's next run. :D

I know that for Buckyball Runs it's normally Class A and Class D modules all round, but... well I'm speechless (almost!).

If you succeed Yodead I'm sure that you'll be the first CMDR to make it to Sadge with a class D FSD. Good Luck!

And for everybody who's made it back, there's no after party but remember you do get a free dinner entre on your next visit to the Shotgun Shine. So I headed over to Townshend Hub in 78 Ursea Majoris, to sell some of my exploration data, grab an Alioth permit and have a quick go at fighting in the conflict zone (much more exciting when you've not finished selling all your exploration data!).

I walk into the starport bar and have a look what's on offer - not a lot, just some watered-down local rip-off of Leesti Evil Juice, shaking my head in disgust I take a seat and glance out of the window...

...what's that...?

...oh my...

...it's only the Shotgun Shine! Well I know where I'll be drinking!

Hopefully I'll sober up enough to have another shot at CMDR Alot's Asp time on Sunday, but if not at least I'll be in the right place for Buckyball 8!

I've left the watered down Evil Juice on the bar and I'm heading across to the Shotgun Shine right now; if I see Jaryd Moonshadow or Nomake Wan in there I'll try and wake them up. ;)

...the Quite Busy With RL Including Having Young Children And Only Limited Time To Play division...

That's the same division as mine :) don't you worry, ElectricZ promised Bucky that he'll award each and everyone who makes it to Sag A, given they stick to the rules, so kick back that recliner and enjoy the railroad-like rump-a-dump of scooping and jumping.

And Mr. Turner: "Sorry Max, you keep breaking up, did you say you'd pulled up next to some saag aloo?"
... Are you watching my neighbourhood? I had vietnamese Panang for lunch today...

And for all who want a warm hug when they get to Sag A within the next week or so: I'll be there, waiting for you. Give me a shout here, I'll come online and greet you at the finish line.

I've been doing calculations in my head, you know, distance / jump range x typical time per jump and I'm starting to think 15hrs is a deeply ambitious goal. So now I face a dilema. I've got a day off work to do this but do I start the night before (catching a few hours sleep before the full day) or do I try and do it all in the one day? Decisions decisions, and I haven't even thought about what to wear yet!

Sorted :)
