A certain texan ranger would probably just say "for the damn glory" but if you don't subscribe to that point of view then how about in order to see some wonders and to make a small fortune in exploration data (and raise your exploration rank a notch or two) while doing so which you can spread around when you get back in order to earn reputation with numerous different factions?

Been pondering on this a bit - I've been stuck out near the core for far too long now. It's got to the point that I'm thinking it may be worth waiting (and exploring) till powerplay drops. I'm sure there will be powers that want exploration data, which may well make whatever data is already on board doubly valuable.... :D

...
"Mad Max here. Got to 9,6kLy from Sag A"
...
"Poor Lyndsey, the whole main computer is mentally ill, it wasn't the route planner only"
...
"Had to remove all non-essential functions and circuit boards to get some plotting done, but with some simple arithmetics, I'm doing good jumps again"
"Might have to reboot the old girl if she turns sluggish once more..."
...
"Mad Max out!"
...

Yeah I already planned some nebula and neutron star sectors stop but it's still... 26.000ly

shame you cant piggy back a ride back with someone else Symbiont,
id happily give you a ride back.. (when im there next) for me the two times ive returned have been a lot less stressful, and yeah the credits from the scans helped a bit. but theres no shame in self destruct. do it and move on with your game life.
I've managed to scrape together the 90 million for a 7A scoop, so work permitting ill be taking another crack at it tomorrow. so maybe I can wrestle the lead back from a lot , at least until he can get a 7A scoop. ;), ive got a feeling though that its not going to be as easy as I think. the whole every other star needs to scoopable thing gives me the willys.

oh and ive already asked bucky about racing back.. and the response was...

I mean scooping every(other) jump. That's what I have to do.
yeah well im riddled with bad juju so ill have to sacrifice a stick of ram to the pc gods or something.
My last 4k test run.. I had to replot twice.. costing me a couple of minutes.. my 1k sprints all need to be about 22 minutes.. so 1 or two mistakes and im funned.
any tips to not get two unscoopables in a row?

Go up to get around the Aucock sector, after that stay on the 0,0 line. I've had pretty good luck there, everytime I deviate I have to keep replotting

Go up to get around the Aucock sector,
yep.. im familiar with the aucocks manoeuvre, I had a bit of trouble at about 22k last run .. but 32 tank helped me through it.. other than plotting a course before hand which would be a tall order.. I think its all in the hands of luck... unfortunately. ;)

are you on a run Kyra.. stop posting and jump lol. you may get there quicker.

I'm atill about 17K from home, 8k out from Sag.

Halo Jones Keeps getting tempted with earth like worlds. Almost thinking of turning back to go look at the great annihilator.. This lil' Hauler is still at 93% hull.

Ahem. Yes I am aware of the Iron Lich effect... My next post may be less (Au)cocky

Trust me, Earth-likes are a dime a dozen out there. I keep running into one every 5 systems or so. In the beginning I always took a screenie of the system map whenever I discover earth-like worlds. After all, they are in some weird system names like PEPHIO AU-N T2-33 or some such (made up name, don't bother to check).

After about 20 or so I quit taking pics. You can even see my ramblings on this about 5 or 6 pages back - if there's so many Earth-likes in the Galaxy, where are the lil' green men? Where are the bug-eyed aliens?

At home when selling data, you'd get a screen saying "Congratulations! You are the first to discover...." yeah I stopped taking screenies of that screen too. There's just too many. I'd guess I had maybe 50 or 60 Earth-like worlds at the point of selling.

I know right?
Where are the Krylorians?
I want a Pink Skinned Cutie named Carina as my Co-pilot/RSN Producer.

Little over half way back to the Civ-Bubble, going to take a detour to VY Canis Majoris.
Because well, I'll be done with exploration for a while... and I need to get back to work for Radio Sidewinder.

so I dunno if I'm gonna "follow the crowd" and race an Asp to Sadge, or stick with my original plan and run the Vulture up there instead....
you've done a crazy run.. join us in the crowd and race there. ;)
though alots asp time will be hard to beat. thatd put me off.

Dibs on Purple Space Babes (PSBs) :p They're all comin' with me!

You know what would be crazier? That we'd wing up and then start synchronizing jumps :) Do that for the next 15 to 18 hours in Asps and maybe we can break/set another record....

*sigh* Next Saturday, Sunday, or Monday I will make my run. Not sure which day yet.

I expect it will be Saturday, I am getting tired of waiting and want to do this already.

Debating whether to try to record the run. Debating whether I have enough HDD space to try to record the run. :p

For reference... My first run came out around the 120GB mark (for nearly 12 hours of video), and that was with Shadowplay on High at 720p.

Thanks.

I can manage that pretty easily... I womder how much more it would be at 1080? Probably better just to do 720 in this case.
