I've just spotted the little extra that Bucky slipped into the big board in the last update...
(or should that be "upd8"?)
I had totally missed that! Heh. Love the quote.

I've tried to find the answer to this, can you actually get the ship to navigate to sag a* in one go?
Will leaving it centered on sag a* plan a route, or do you need to constantly plot 500 ly routes as you travel?
I'm currently in a station that is 25705.24 ly from there, is this about the last station on the way?
Hi fergal, maximum plot range is currently 1000 light years. so no ..you have to make 26 odd plots to get there. (photonic ninja)I've tried to find the answer to this, can you actually get the ship to navigate to sag a* in one go?
Thanks guys, looks like plotting the best route is half the battle.
I've only been out 600 ly or so twice, 26000 looks far to say the least![]()

After you've gone 26,000 LY and come back, the next time you see someone complain that "800 LY is too far!" you'll just scoff and snigger at him...Personally, I think that the Orion cluster that is 1,300 LY away from Sol is "nearby" now... I use it to test loadouts on ships that I want to race to Sag A*
Anyway you need to start at Galileo Station around the moon (or the station in Wolf 359) to have an "official Buckyball recorded time". If you start at any other station, it is just noted under the "unofficial" times on the board.
CMDR Barton Smith met his end at Sagittarius A* this morning at 07.53(GMT). Third victim in 24 hours. Explorers are not getting the message it seems... Stay out of Sagittarius A*.
To his credit CMDR Barton Smith did not attempt to combat log and he died with honor.

I've been going for about 2 1/2 hours, done over 4000ly I think.
Good advice robinjb.
I'm off to give it a crack, just about to leave Sol.
I don't think I will be setting any records, except maybe slowest to arrive
This is CMDR McFergus signing off in the Coal Powered Brick (Type 6).
*edit, about 1000 ly from Sol, took about 35-40 mins. I stopped to scan 2 stars, someone beat me to it![]()

Two quick questions. 1) I have totally failed to spot the interesting addition to the big board, clue?
I thought it would take 2 weeks

The black hole lensing effect looks nice.
