3 times I have raced, and I honestly believe I gave it all in my last one, but here you come in your first run and utterly destroy me. Well done sir, hats off to you :) And also: I was there when you arrived! Tried to hail you amongst the 4 other Asp's and 2 Anaconda's currently present, but you were of course busy getting proper screens from the run ;)
I saw you guys :D But by that point I had to just get all the screenies and then go pass out. I have crazy respect for anyone doing this challenge. The run is definitely and endurance challenge both mentally and physically, at least for me. Started on my way home, ugh, so brutal. I can't seem to get anything further than a few jumps at a time. Hoping to get back in time for 1.3.

Gee if you're not scanning and have nothing much to sell, just go KABOOM and you'll be back in no time :)

I'm not sure what my scans would even be worth, to know how much money I would lose.
I think space sickness is setting in.

Not sure how long I've just been travelling back and forth from the furthest system in my list. Seems my route stopped a while ago

Yeah, I think the one thing you can't really prepare for about the run is how mentally draining it is if you're doing it in one go.

The need to consistently, skillfully, and safely fuel scoop time after time after time after time after time requires a lot of focus. Losing focus means taking damage. Taking damage too many times means you fail. So you have to keep that focus, and doing that is mentally exhausting.

It's the most difficult part, I think.

I've started spending a lot longer in hyperspace (losing maybe 10secs per jump). Did anyone else experience this?

I didn't notice, but the hyperspace time is basically the time it takes to generate the system, including its skybox with the stars positions.
This should take more CPU time in the center.

But I haven't got any more CPU! To quote Withnail, I feel unusual, I think I need to go outside for a bit.

Hmmm... I'm so near to Sadge, yet my sky isn't filled with stars....

I'm so near to the core, I'm getting fps drops each time I jump already.... so by now my sky should be filled with stars yet it's not....

*scratch head* weird...

Apparently they bettered the couriers heating probs in the latest beta update..
Could anyone with some spare time and Beta access, check if it's good for travelling yet? :D

17,500 lys in, All the hot cross buns are gone. I'm cracking open the wine at 18,000.

Hang on ... Damn, left the bottle opener back in Galileo. Could the next Baller to run pick it up for me?

Oh, don't worry - with all the Lavian Brandy that's been flowing at Sadge, I doubt there'll be a shortage of openers once you get there. Extra motivation! But you'd think that after Delvan forgot his bottle opener previously too, it would be on everyone's pre-run checklist ever since...

Love to, but the beta can't patch while you are in the normal game, and mine is now saying 4 days to completion.
I got the jump range to about 32, but thats absolute max, I think you would need the 4T fuel tank, if not the 8T.

Problem solved.

You may be having a few glasses of that if you experience the plotting problems that some of us had! :D

Good luck, hope you make it before the wine runs out! ;)

Oh, and happy anniversary. :)

98% plotting problems have already started!

I've also noticed a direct correlation between wine consumed and overheating incidents encountered.

Focus dammit FOCUS.

Huh? You're further away than I am from the core and you're already getting it?

My plots are all still quick-ish... 5 to 15 seconds.... nothing that would make me cancel and replot... yes I'm still plotting 1,000 LY routes...

and my sky is still clear...no "full of stars" thing :(

Are you you sure you're going the right way! :D

P.S. I have a very low spec PC so I was expecting problems.

Got back in :)
Fuel scooping with the courier seems more normal now. You can only put an A3 on though.

*edit, just got an A8 fuel scoop over 1600

ah Hmmm maybe I might not be going the right way... I'm only taking Anuranium as a reference point :D If he's already moved I'd be going for the wrong system!

Anyway maybe you should try to go higher up the galactic plane where there are slightly lesser stars...might help your map issues...

If you manage to get Alot's method to work then it should be quick whatever your pc spec.

My i5 laptop (equivalent to an i3 desktop) plotted in less than 5 seconds, whereas my desktop plots in about 2 seconds.

If it takes longer than about 20 seconds to plot a long route then it's better to cancel and pick a different star. As soon as you find one that plots quickly, that distance is your "magic number."

Make sure that you have "realistic" selected and that you select then deselect "fastest route."

Why select and deselect fastest route?

I tried swapping to realistic, but I got better results filtering the map by economy, which is what I had it on until the problems started.
