Thanks FD, I'm going to generate a Steam key, simply because that is where all my games are.
I've already bought the expansion pass and a few skins, so you have my money there.
All those saying how terrible Steam's cut is... when the game launched on Steam it was at number 1 in the sales chart for quite a while if I recall.
The amount FD have made out of Steam far exceeds any cut Valve will get from our future purchases.
This will happen again once the Mac client is active on Steam I'd have thought (if it has not gone live on Mac yet).

2 hrs trying to get a steam key, still cant log in...what a crock!

1) Open Steam
2) From top menu select GAMES > Add a Non-Steam game to my library.
3) Window will open with list of programs/games installed on your system
4a) If ED is not on the list press BROWSE and locate ED launcher, it willl be added to the list and marked automatically - press ADD SELECTED PROGRAMS button.
4b) If ED shows up in the window select it and press ADD SELECTED PROGRAMS button.
5) Profit
I guess you're right.
Hardly 'free' as all of us already bought the game ... but yeah I think FDEV underestimated number of people trying to get those keys ASAP or overestimated their website resiliency.
The store has crashed before at highly popular times, the free cobra skin pack a few months back crashed it for example.
It's free in that it costs you nothing for the key itself. You paid for your Elite account, not the key, you can't do a thing with the key without the account you paid for.
Currently I have no idea whether I have successfully been through the procedure to get the key.

So when I buy my upgrades on my PS4 for planetary landings etc, As well as Sony getting their cut from the Playstation Store, Steam will also make money from a purchase made with Sony?

Does this mean everything we buy on Steam will be available through the classic launcher ?
Does this mean everything we buy on the official Frontier Store will be available for our Steam account also ?
What are the benefits ? What are the inconvenients ? Everything will still stay the same ?
Is there any "time limit" to generate the key and use it ?
