Bad sound so cud not get most what was said and tons of comments so i stopped watching after 2-3min. This did not give me any confidence in supporting this game.

It's good fun that SC's community is enthusiastically creating some content. I envy they have videocast where different members of the team come and explain game's features.

I understand this is a way to keep community under control..errr... I mean "entertained" along with fish tank and crab.

Watching how they're playing live. Interestingly, they are rolling very occasionally, mostly strafing. Very Freelancer-ly like.

Doesn't look very impressive tbh. A large part of the screen is covered by a non functional cockpit. Suppose it's all still wip, but looks kinda meeehh so far.

Yes - think it's too early for a fair comparison but at the moment ED cockpits look way ahead.

And I have to sat the third person switching looked weird - prefer the in cockpit experience having seen that.

Roberts has said it was a non-function placeholder. Although there was working indicator of relative speed (from -100 to 100).

Yes that's why I'm not being too harsh on it - it's clearly nowhere near ready - the radar/scanning wasn't working - but just the look of the cockpit compared to ours was very meh - so far..

I really don't get the whole struts everywhere thing in the cockpit - like cheap double glazing. And for the first time I can see that our ships look like they belong in space whereas the Hornet looked a bit silly in that video.

And I've dropped a few quid over there - I want to see it succeed. As I say way too early to judge but a bit hmmm at the mo.

The damage modelling does look insanely intricate though.

It looks very flight simulator like along with cockpit. I was thinking "gee, how my f-16 ended up in space". Leaving that aside it does look interesting. But that horrible 3rd person view and movement from left to right...noooo

I already said in the Alpha forum that we need a closure rate (relative speed) indicator.

Also I like how their HUD is following the pilot's head instead of being fixed to the cockpit orientation.

You think it's better than the distance? Isn't more transparent to make immediate judgement from increasing/decreasing distance ?

That's the main thing I liked about it. Will wait and see on some of the rest, as it was nowhere near as polished as the ED alpha, so comparisons might not be fair yet. Weird how both games went with dusty blue asteroid fields though!

I thought I detected a lot of yaw compared to roll in there, and a lot of mouse and keyboard. Will be very interesting trying it out with a HOTAS set-up and seeing how it compares. I didn't really get on with my X52 in Freespace 2, which was the other yaw-heavy game I've played. It's been an absolute joy to use in Elite though, and I'm already thinking about upgrading my setup.

Because in May Roberts told in an interview that DFM will be delivered in December 2013 ?

Yeah, but the delay was only announced very recently, as though they were still humming and hawing over it. They must have known.

At any rate, I look forward to it. Though much less so, now that I know I'm probably going to be killed by the pay-to-win folk who've bought the bigger ships and gunz...
