They don't care. They already have your money. As there's no subscription (at least not yet) they have no interest in keeping you and will spend their resources attracting other types of players.

They already did that to the PC version to appease the casual PC audience. Its probably due to PC owners complaining that there isnt enough instant action that this mode was added in the first place.

You have it wrong.
They're porting the whole game. Xbox players are just getting CQC first.
All of you guys who don't understand the console world should stop and rethink. Being on Xbox requires games to have DLC. It is part of the deal game designers sign when they go on a console. It will usually be maps, side quests or gimmicks. Sometimes it can be something really worthwhile. But fact is it is part of the way things work. The day FD signed up for Xbox that was always on the cards. But it is no reason to get upset, infact it is a good thing because it garuntees there will be more releases for ED which can only be a good thing. Who cares if some of it comes out first on Xbox? Are we realy all babies on here? I am a beta backer. I couldn't care less if they get some stuff first. As long as there is cool stuff coming down the line I am willing to put up with that. It brings a huge market to the game and means the game may grow more and last longer than if we did not have it.

It was probably not even a FD decision but has been forced upon them by whatever contract the entered into with MS to give some sense of 'exclusivity' to the Xbox crowd (for the benefit of MS).
Having said that, it kind of looks like a kick in the teeth to the people that got this project funded in the first place. So much still broken and yet they pander to the console crowd, not good FD not good at all.

Not sure if this has been discussed yet, but is that a space elevator that I spy as part of that new station?
On second thoughts, the long structure it has descending towards the planet doesn't continue on the "space bound side" of the station.
It would probably need to continue further than the altitude shown, the designs I've seen have a counterweight out passed geostationary orbit.
Though having said that the planet depicted in the trailer will probably have different height requirements for an elevator, than the ones for an Earth based elevator.

It's the principle of who get's what first and why.
I don't care for this CQC (I wish they would put something else instead). But Why do Xbone players get it first?
Especially when some of us spent a lot more money on the game in Kickstarter with the promise of beta accesses and first looks to content?
They should stick by their kickstarter, and presales promises and let people who invested more money into the game access it first. Regardless if it's CQC, or some other game mode.
I'm not bothering with this thread anymore. There's either a far against and far for this announcement. And there is no point trying to argue or rip apart people's posts, when it's impossible to convince either party.
I'll carry on playing Elite, I love the game, even though it has some serious issues that needs addressing. I just hoped that they wouldn't of gone down this route. But they did, so there's no point even trying to convince them otherwise, it's not our decision to make - it's the shareholders.

Its early access, like what we get on steam of work in progress games. This CQC thing will be like our combat test thing from the alpha only with all the and polish and extra time and stuff gained from the PC version.

I was saying user bases as in Xbox vs PC. Of course the mode isn't appealing to people who prefer single player, lol
And I also don't understand how a secondary game mode is destroying the core experience in Elite. How is the core experience changing?

CQC(FPS??)? Where's the link? I hope we won't be waiting months for this. I mean, I get it... releasing a title for a new platform you want something to set it apart, sure... but just how long of an exclusive we talking here? A week? A month? More?
New content and a cash injection for FD seems good to me. Personally I'm gonna be all over an arena mode, it looks like fun. All this "but they're getting it before us!" stuff is just childish IMO. Really, what does it matter?
Also the next time there's a new beta available - which we will get access to and xbone user won't - we're going to have this exact same silly conversation, only in reverse.
