So some people don't play PP for reasons devs want them to...so what?
So what we have is the backbone of Powerplay (the board game as some people suggest) proving ultimately pointless. ie: It's not being used for "tactical" purposes by most CMDRs, but instead simply reflects the outcome of random grinding/gameplay preferences of players. It's nothing more than where they
randomly decide to go to do things...
Look at every CONTROL system for example and notice this is what the bar charts strongly suggest
So, if we accept this is the current case, it means the biggest addition to ED yet, has spent a huge amount of development time introducing a whole mechanism (
the board game) that is ultimately unecessary/unwanted. Imagine if all that time has instead been aimed at adding more core gameplay which would have benefitted everyone!
PP has meant CMDRs can align to different Powers which I think has helped the game. It's promoted some new activities, be they simply offering old mechanics in a new way, which is fine. But it's spent a huge amount of effort at the expense of other feature that I think would have move ED forwards (eg: more involved/interesting tasks/missions).
ps: I don't want to start a PP debate on this thread, so I'd suggest anything further takes place on a dedicated thread please? -
