it's the mayan's using an alien number system ;)

Ha ha. Best one today.

The Mayay numbers are quite practical tho.
Efficient (base 20). And simple figures (dots and lines).
Try wrighting a binary number with the same amount of figures. You want get far.
Besides, they seem to like dots and dahes ;-)

Ok, it's CMDR Britain. I have one in my hold right now you can have.

Feel free to blow it up in the name of science if you need to, I can get more.

(Although I've tried blowing them up and nothing seemed to happen, no sparklies, nothing. =( )

You can shoot out my FSD if you want in return for this misjump test.

Logging in in 30 minutes CMDR!

Best of the thread award!

I still think carrying the UA to a specific destination is what might be needed. We know the UA transmits its location - so perhaps it just needs to be taken to the correct location.

Stop posting here and get back to making awesome exploration videos.

Nilreb refers to a possible "5th".
It would be good to collate the other 4 I think.

Sorry, it was not my intention to speak in figures.

Please recap:
According to this:

(for over a month, read again: for over a month!!!)
I hoped to make other CMDRS aware of these 4 missions.
Also there where updates with pictures for debriefing screens if the theories shoot far in the wild.
But in this new thread all starts over all few days.
And I have not the patience like Ratking15, Whishblend, Han_zen and other to answer all again and again.

As no progress is to see in my gameplay I have gone again through all what came up and identified
a 5'th possible related Elite (in Exploration) mission with nice statement in debriefing.
That was the posting today:
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=162998&p=2538967&viewfull=1#post2538967
(The taken away "easy to use spoiler feature" for pictures help not realy Frontier!)

It is hard not to deep to spoil and take the joy away for other CMDR's.
Also what is the use for other CMDR if they cant get these missions?
Hard to jugde what other CMDR see for missions in his gamplay.

It is total clear that there is no final target right now in game. But lot to explore and to find.
And every CMDR should have his own way!
I'm glad if I can help the one or the other.
Feed the Wiki CMDR's!

I know. It hapened quite often.
In FE2 and. FFE it was not included.
I don't think it's in ED either, but I would be happy to be proven wrong.
I just don't want UA holdes to risk their ships by jumping with damaged drives.

You can cause a Forced Mis-Jump in FFE (and Frontier) by holding down the ALT key when pressing H.
I'm not suicidal enough to test if this, or any other combination works in Elite: Dangerous!

(I believe that the idea was to use it to evade mercenaries and assassins who were tailing you)

Because, if you listen to him, first he talks about the UA, about the fact that we started to do "something" and we stopped, leaving it half-made, than he talks about "Exploring" and he says "we gave the Explorer, and the SAP 8, and all of that, the truth is there! Just keep going on with what you were doing, keep on..."

One of the first things that were proposed, even by Erimus, was to take the UA to the Outer Rim, we talked a lot about the permitted regions, than we stopped talking about that, because we assumed that it would be almost impossible to carry the UA that far...

But those are all speculations, I know.

What I'm asking concretely now, is to check if some permitted regions are now selectable and reachable with the FSD, while carrying those THINGS ;)
And in one of the last patches, FD have extended the distance a System could be, to give a permit to another near System...

I didn't (& still don't) have a Sap-8, but here's trying to route to Witch's Reach (which has a similar permit required as Polaris) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ocJb-oZZlo. I get the same kind of thing when I try Polairs.

Hop in a Sidewinder and test it out!!!

I did not know this :)
Where did you end up?

Yes. But the morse did not change. We had a strange change in the purrs however. This post is a good entry point if you want to read more about it.

It was the first time i've actively watched for the purrs and found a video with so few purrs. But after that i started searching for more.

The purrs in this old video by red wizzard are also different, with no SAP 8 involved: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKT6CVKclZg

Have not found more of this examples. Not sure what brings the UA to emit less purrs. But i think this is the hottest lead we have at the moment.

So no more purr changes in the middle of recordings since I noticed the length change in Ratking15's tests (old post here)?

I was going to take a crack at decoding again tonight, but while catching up the past 2 days posts it's starting to seem that might be a dead end after reading the posts from bartmoss and bitstorm on code vs character distributions, and then and QorbeQ's reply on generating a similar distribution just using a randomized set. Ah well, nice work all round though :)

So has this angle been abandoned now?

This new focus on FSD failures sounds really interesting though, looking forward to see how that turns out! :D

Where did you end up?

Somewhere near to your destination, but the location cursor is in empty space and there are no planets/space-stations around ... just space ... lots of it!
The same could also happen if you didn't service your drive and it failed - causing a mis-jump. (This is Frontier: First Encounters for anyone randomly reading the Q/A)

(I can't test with a sidewinder in E: D right now unfortunately as I'm flying a mining python with rare metals to sell off through the BBS missions)

Thought :

Time between honks is static per system

UA released during wings

Hot/cold would be nigh impossible to use as a single player hopping through the galaxy.

But 4 at once?

Drop multiple UAs at different systems, use wings to coordinate effort. Players converge toward system with most frequent honks, spread out, converge again - maybe this could narrow a range or area of space to work in?

OK I just tried this, held down ALT hit H to jump 30ly in a DBE, but nothing happened :(
