Arissa Lavigny-Duval Power Play Cycle 6

The power contact should refuse more fortification materials after the system hits 100%.

Sometimes you still have to get 50 more merits before you hit 750, and everywhere is fortified. There is a bit of reason to allow it, but there really should be some sort of detrimental affect when you hit 200%. Maybe the system enters Lockdown for no reason?

Then the grinders will just prep the closest system regardless of how much cc it gives.

This is true, but it just means they need to fix preparation and fortification at the same time:

- once a system gets past (say) 150% fortification it can't be fortified anymore.
- once all systems are 100% fortified the HQ doesn't give out any more garrison supplies
- the game (or Frontier) chooses which systems can be prepped for each Power, not the players
- or alternately, the game gives reduced merits for Prepping systems which make no sense for the Power
- the same system can be selected for preparation for more than one Power

Hello all,
Just wanted to take a sec and pass on my appreciation to all of you. We have had some fun over the past 4 weeks and I gave PP the college try. It is however time for me to get off the hamster wheel, not even going to claim my Imp Hammer. I am not going to pledge to anyone else and plan on going back to independent. This may all change when FD gets the whole PP dynamic and mechanics figured out, but to be honest I am tired of the grind.

There are a few things that bug me:
1. Merit Farmers
2. I cant kill Merit Farmers because they are in Solo / Group
3. No way to effectively communicate within our faction. The board is nice but not very effective and it seems like there is a ton of confusion.
4. It does feel like a hamster wheel - Run, Run, Run and get no place fast.

Things that I like.
1. Community and Leaders on the Page
2. Efforts of the folks that have stepped up and attempted to make sense of string and chaos theory.
3. And last but not least did I mention the ALD Community and Leaders on the page.

I will check the page every day like normal and if there is some undermining that needs to be done let me know - always up for that. As for now I am making the final push to Elite in my Combat rank so there are Combat Zones to hit as well as Bounties to collect.

Hope to see you all soon - and if there is venom well - I understand.

Thanks again

Edit: Before I Leave is there any systems you all would like me to put my points in - Just thought about that.

We've got loads of systems that need fortifying this week. I don't know if anyone's bothered anymore (except for Guathiti), but we need to fortify if we're to have any hope of avoiding turmoil.

Same feeling here - except for Undermining (wich is actually fun), it is getting tiresome after a few weeks.
I keep fortifying bases, but seeing crappy systems being prepared at the same time is discouraging...

I didn't really want to encourage anyone else from leaving ALD, but I've found PP with Archon Delaine to be quite relaxing in comparison. If you don't like the sound of joining him, I'd imagine Antel is just the same (and noone is trying to kill him off).

Our most fortified system is on 200% I think. If you want a system prepared, just get yourself (and one or two more people if you want) and go prep it. You only need about 500 in the first 3 days to make it stay in the top 10 list.

It doesn't matter what garbage systems are prepped the week before, they wont be expanded, unless you want to help expand it.

Its been quite different playing PP with a much smaller player base, its still the same broken system, but I think there are just so many players in ALD that every flaw just seems amplified. I really feel the most broken part of PP was allowing 10 systems to actually be prepared in one week, then allowing all 10 to be expanded the week after.

If you want to stay in the Empire, Torval has had their player group (East India Company) announce they are leaving, which made up the vast majority of their organised players.

I still think PP brings more to the game than not having it at all (even with all its flaws), just Aisling and ALD probably have too big a player base (and they can't fight each other) for the 0 communication tools to cope with.
If you are thinking of leaving PP, try out a smaller Power first.

If anyone wonders why the Headquarters blog was not updated over the last days: I'm quite busy in RL and maintaining the site isn't a priority atm, because I can't be at a monitor for too long right now.

But I'm sure you know how to find reddit and such. ;) Fly safe - I'll be back.

Thanks for the suggestions; I will probably stick with ALD and see how things change with the next updates.
Plus, I'd like to enjoy the BH bonus a little while! ;)

Yes, I know what you mean about the amplified effect and it's quite glaring. Since the fiasco, I've moved on to a smaller Power as well, the Adjusters tried to "adjust" me but didn't quite succeed. Enjoying the different pace. I think FD didn't quite anticipate what happened and for good or bad, what happened with ALD gave FD impetus to quickly tweak PP and perhaps give us better system and the tools (eg: comms) needed so we may all have a a better experience in time to come, no matter which faction we join.

It appears that we will still have Command Capital available at the beginning of Cycle 7. If anyone has Preparation Suggestions for Cycle 7, please make them now.

If anyone can find a system close enough for merit-grinders without killing us in profit, that would be greatly appreciated.

Asvienses seems beyond reach, our preparation is not optimal.

Even after our scare, it seems someone has not taken on the lessons...

What is this obsession with Archon anyhow?

Stop Asvensies to help Patreus. We need to beat them at a 3-1 ratio.

That would have been a good goal...

Maths Update for Cycle 7:

Our Exploited Systems count is 739 right now. I believe it was 672 when Vaka and Nunus were in Turmoil and we were expanding into 8 systems. Since we got 7 systems and their roughly 67 new exploited systems, it became 739. However, we lost control of Vaka and Nunus, but since it is possible to regain control of exploited systems, they still factored into our costs at the turn of the cycle, in addition to the new systems. So the stat of 739 exploited systems is what was factored in at the cycle flip. Our exploited system count going into this flip should be around 719, which puts our Overhead (using the 94000 divisor) at roughly 3955. (The higher the count, the more the formula drifts. I would expect an Overhead between 3900 and 4000.)

Currently, we have Cancelled Fortifications at Pancienses (33), Vodyanes (23), Sietae (35), LHS 1852 (27), HIP 21778 (25), Biliri (25), Shatrites (32), Caria (27), Nyalayan (32), and Candecama (33).

Priva (26) is being undermined at 69%. That fortification could cancel before the flip.

Unfortified systems are currently Kuuku (27), Damoorai (28), Yao Tzu (29), He Xingo (30), Yupini (33).

For all of these numbers I'm relying on the 4911 remaining constant. If new rival expansions put our systems into Contention, and I believe some will (Aisling expanding in Guuguyni is going to cost us at least 11cc).

I ran the maths for Best Case and worst case scenarios: Best Case is if we fortify everything, do not get undermined in Priva, and we lose Vaka and Nunus from exploited system count. We should have 664cc to spend. (Minus newly Contested Systems.)

Worst case is if the cycle flipped without those 5 systems fortified, undermined in Priva, and the 739 Exploited System Count remains constant. If that happens, we would have 166cc to spend. (Minus newly Contested Systems.)

I don't know the Contested Systems loss we will suffer, as that would take awhile to figure out. It is definitely possible to exceed 166cc, but I haven't looked at the map to see where people are encroaching. More than likely, we will not go into Turmoil at the flip. There is every possible chance we will have over 600cc to spend. In which case, we have to prevent ourselves from expanding into 6 systems. Hell, we need to keep it under 4, preferably under 3.

I'll be nominating Ngun after the flip, per the previous suggestion of it being a better alternative to Gende. The farmers seemed to like it enough, and Ngun's about the same distance away.

Maybe we can get Binjia, since it didn't make it this week? (or whatever the alternative was, since that's... kinda far)

Ngun is definitely better than Gende, but Murare might be worth looking into as well.

I wonder if we can fail our expansion in Phracani. It might mean a lot of us get high bounties there, but maybe it'll benefit us?

Good morning!

I found a cluster of high-profit systems not far away from HQ and also "gap-fillers". I post some of them here. There are also some in the area that make tidy profits (around 80 CC) but I was unable to access their System Maps.

Phra Narai (patronage?): 59,42 Ly from HQ, Exp. Cost 129 CC, Pot. Profit: 81CC/W - no large pads, outpost 150,69 Ls from star
HIP 27371 (democracy?): 50,02 Ly from HQ, Exp. Cost 124 CC, Pot. Profit: 70CC/W - large pad 296,41 Ls from star

There is another candidate in a different region:

Malaikudi (dictatorship?): 70,88 Ly from HQ, Exp. Cost 134 CC, Pot. Profit: 82CC/W - large pad 115,4 Ls from star

That's all folks, so far. Now I have to go to work... :) Nice Thursday to you all!
