That's ok.

So we are to take Frontiers actions as definitive evidence that they don't give a damn about the opinions of the end users of their products?

If you wish, as long as you don't feel you have a right to be informed/have a say in how they operate as an organisation; you are free to draw what ever conclusion you like.

Honestly, I know this is unpopular opinion but I don't feel crowd funding (kickstarter) gives us any rights. I essentially gifted my cash to Frontier as I understand it. I have less consumer rights than those that just waited for the game to appear on Steam. Personally I have no issue with that, I wanted a new Elite game and took a punt on it because I believed in the idea.

Allow me to reiterate: I absolutely have the right to have a say in how the game develops, and I have the right to share my opinions of them as an organization.

They absolutely have the right to ignore me entirely.

You are confusing complaints and comments with accusations and demands.

People who take money and start a project using that money should act in good faith to produce whatever it is they promised. If they don't do that kickstarter and other crowdfunded projects will suffer. A lot of small time creative studios really need that to get their projects off the ground, and without it we're beholden to the publishing giants like Ubisoft or EA.

You've a right to your opinion, but as you say I think it'll be unpopular.

Hear, hear.

"have a say in" (X) means you actually have input to the decision making process surrounding (X). It doesn't mean you have an opinion about it. That may be part of the disconnect between your posts and ZeeWolf's.

You have the right to complain and make whatever noises you want on forums.

I really think Kickstarter should be clear about what relationship with a company really is when people donate. If you get involved with real financial investment you are expected to sign off your understanding.

Well finally caught up on the 30+ pages that ballooned while I slept the night/morning away.....my last post regarding this is that it was good to get a response from Zac finally. Yes it was very PR and didn't say much we didn't already know but it was better than silence and better late than never. I am sure that wherever they moved SJA's talents to will benefit greatly from her competence and only stands to be improved from her talents. Knowing that the A.I. improvements will come eventually and won't be scrapped is a huge plus imo as the work done was significant I am sure and deserves to be implemented at some point. The only issue I have with the whole situation is the "gag order" which hopefully will get lifted soon.....I would like to see all the people involved in significant ways post on the forums and interact with the fans even if it is limited in what they say about development. I do hope the reposted tweets that she deleted do not have too drastic of consequences for her future as that is something that was beyond her control and should never have been reposted.

Also I just want to go on record and say twitter is the devil.....

*shrugs* I still think the main issue here isn't that she was relegated to work on to some secret stuff but the fact she's been gagged from the forums. The "staff posts" we got on this thread echo what others were saying in the first 20 or so pages.

Hell one of the posts on page 3 sums them up.

Why the hell have FD taken away one of the most anticipated updates to the AI that we all have been looking forward too, and then gagged one of the more engaging members of the FD dev team.

I honestly just don't get it sometimes, it genuinely feels as if FD are trying to upset us!

SJA was the one person who actually communicated at a human level.

Now she has been gagged and instead we get the canned responses and all that bolloks from the "community" team.

edit: woops forgot to undo the multi-quote when copy/pasting but Chazzie's post is also valid.

Oh dear, that does not make good reading, I really wouldn't like to work at FD if those comments are anything to go be.
It looks bad, but, for the places I've been in software dev, it is fairly par for the course.

The golden ticket is to get on a pretty well-insulated team that is given free reign to do whatever it takes.

Boy, those were the days.

I struggle to find a company I've worked for that leavers have written nice thing on Glass door about. For example try searching for "Codemasters".

Who would have thought that people leaving with an axe to grind would be the ones that vent? Who would have thought people in a medium sized dev team aren't all universally happy? If it means all these companies are badly run I wonder why they are still around?
