If you are lynched aren't you dead and can't make calls?
Just sayin' ;)

You've got a point. I'm also working on the assumption I would be hands-free, as the cat-lovers will probably have tied my hands behind my back. Hopefully with cake-decoration tape or similar, so I might be able to prise myself free..

I certainly hope so :) I just don't like everyone starting to care about something just because it was on the news....

If it wasn't news, we would not be aware of it. However, that would not stop people caring or having an opinion about barbaric acts in general; would it?

<high 5> I think its bigger than that. Every year some other species goes poof. Polar bears in my neck of the woods are in trouble, more than lions. Rhinos and bears being killed for their parts for imaginary superstitious reasons (virility? really?) get me goat as well. Ever see Blackwater? mind expanding that.

Also the needless persecution and larceny of Kiwi men by Aussie women must stop. I like to watch Flight Of The Conchords while I listen to Midnight Oil. :D

What's 'Yankee' got to do with it? Is that a word? Does it matter where he's from? - just puzzled.

The bwana is a Cheesehead (google it dare ya), not a yankee. Of course it doesn't matter. the gentleman is from another country. They don't know the distinctions, eh

My apologies, I did not mean to suggest that. I just meant I that we as humans evolve past the barbaric actions of the past.

We, as humans, are destroying the entire ecosystem of the planet with polution and destruction of the environment yet we, as the highly evolved creatures that we are, can't appear to do anything about it.

Humans are only the most technologically advanced species, I doubt we're the most intelligent.

I agree in part - but what has the culpability of this foolish dentist have to do with the collective failure of the entire human race?

Oh, and with my scientist's head on, we are by far the most intelligent species on this planet. Go ask a dolphin - oh, of course they can't speak except in whistles. OK, ask them to write to you instead.

We aren't highly evolved mate unfortunately. Whales are. They have more empathy, compassion and natural ethics than Mother Teresa on Ecstasy.

When some obnoxious tourist is travelling the world ruining it for everybody, there's usually a high chance it's a septic, to be fair.
Especially when they masquerade as Canuckians.
KIDDING don't shoot! Lives matter! lol

It was a point made in response to another post.

With regard to this dentist, he obviously is someone who sees the natural world as something he can destroy for his own gratification (yes, killing a rhino pretty much establishes this).

He's not just foolish but he's also arrogant, stupid, and not much of a deep thinker.

It's all that hymn singing in the valleys that makes them very passive etc. Oh, whales, sorry I thought I read Welsh!

So long and thanks for all the fish.

But complacency is not an offence. I could equally argue that everyone here, worrying about this blo*dy cat, and its stupid killer, were complacent about the thousands of deaths around the world today for lack of basic medicines - which in many cases cost less than a few cents per day! That is complacency my friend. Am I guilty. Yes.

I couldn't give a damn about humanity, it's a bloody cancer a PLAGUE on this planet...infesting it and multiplying beyond reasonable controls. IMO humanity needs to be culled NOT endangered species.

humanity sucks

You know, you do have a point. We have overpopulated the world and keep stopping nature from culling us by creating vaccines against the epidemics that are supposed to cull us.
There are expected to be around 11 Billion humans by 2100. And we are "culling" species that has 20 000 individuals left in the world? We really are the pest.

Killing imperiled animals to save them is nonsensical, morally wrong and economically harmful (since observation tourism yields way more to local communities). These endangered animals' true value is when they are free to roam in the wild, not killed for a hunter's pride. Cecil the Lion was only one of hundreds that die this way every year. I love the way Jimmy Kimmel summed it up on his show.

Problem with most people, including myself, is that we have enough worries right before our nose; we don't have the energy or willpower to engage in troubles beyond them.

It is also how we cope in a growing insane world, where extremists train children to kill, deranged world leaders still think nuclear threat is a good way of negotiations, children are being traded as slaves and sex objects, and, yes: endangered animals are being hunted for their believed aphrodisiacs or the sheer thrill of it. We shut it out and don't think about it on a daily basis because it is just too much..

Then we get a reminder like this, and we just have to react, because not reacting would mentally be even worse. Are we guilty? yes.

But more than the common man, the world leaders are exponentially more guilty, with the added power they have to actually do something about it. But I hear the UN has turned a semi-open eye on this case and are actually doing something. We'll see what happens.
