Plus, just to be clear, I am not complaining that they need to add new content, and then complaining that adding new content breaks things. I am saying they should fix the existing content and implement it the way it was originally envisaged in the DDA, before they add other major new content, which will bring additional bugs with it, if previous patches, "betas" and release cycles are any experience to go by.

I got that. But I don't think there is a significantly lower risk involved in adding content that's missing from the DDA vs adding other major new content. Anyway, as I said, the way ED and FD are funded means FD will prioritise major new content and that's an entirely rational decision.

Right - so is Phase 2 (or 3, or 4, or x), planetary bodies with atmospheres and/or gas giants and/or water worlds etc. part of this "Season"? Or a separate paid expansion? Or never happening?

*shrugs*

They always said they would start with Airless worlds, then move on to worlds with Atmospheres but how that falls into the expansion scheme I do not know\

I would hope they are part of the Same Expansion Season

The current price is for those who will buy into the planetary landings hype.

There will definitely be a sale pre launch (always is)
So save your money :) don't buy the hype.
It's not like pre order will get you anything :D

Just wait it out guys

Phase 1 Airless worlds

AN ONGOING COMMITMENT TO GAMEPLAY
Elite Dangerous: Horizons introduces major content along with new features in every update, continuing to enrich the Elite Dangerous experience with new ‘open world’ activities on the surfaces of airless worlds and across the galaxy.

Ah ok, I missed that. It's not mentioned in the piece on frontier.co.uk (http://frontier.co.uk/news/latest/?artid=518&pageNum=0&blk=12).

Wait and see is definitely the right strategy for anyone worried about what will or won't be included. We'll know more once the beta is released in any case.

At the risk of going ever-further off-topic:

That release [XBox and CQC] will precede the release of Ships, a content update that'll bring the number of ships in the game to over thirty and clear the way for the Horizons expansion.

http://www.gamereactor.eu/news/334073/Horizons+expansion+announced+for+Elite:+Dangerous/

Anyone seen anything else on this? 1.5 release maybe?

One question answered anyways:

Players will seamlessly journey from space to surface, coasting over mountaintops, diving into canyons and venturing out on the ground in the SRV, without loading screens or breaks in gameplay.

Well there is no harm in doing ones due diligence and waiting for more info.
Fact it is the sensible thing to do.

Another Night of Hafnium Convoys but no UAs

Just a note for the Wiki custodian

The system the AI obtained theirs was "Un No Myoin"
(78, -95, -61) are the coordinates of the system relative to Sol, not part of the system name

Get the lifetime pass Arcanonn, you know you want it. ;-)

Heck, they should give you one for services rendered to the UA, and all the free marketing they got out of it. Ditto for Erimus and his explorations and community galactic mapping enterprise, and Surly Badger for the Fuel Rats.

Please do not assume the absence of argument constitutes consensus in favour. If I argued with every "theory" that I didn't agree with, I would not have any time for hunting, and people would feel "hurt", which is apparently not allowed.
Only the simple unaided destruction theory holds ANY water IMHO, and that I am sure will fail, but at least it has a solid reasoning behind it

Fair points, yes, and the hope is to put up a proposal which covers bases. For example, the unaided destruction (essentially do nothing and watch really well?) test seems pretty much scarcely interfered with by a simultaneous gunning engines at a particular angle test - and I'm hoping to find efficient ways to maximise similarly in what I'm drafting up, all for review in this thread with some days to get it all sorted.
Regarding consensus itself, yes, absolutely right, but at least in the context of the known Biscuit Barrel goal (to get one for finite testing) it is at least far, far less broad in possible disagreement over best-testing than getting one to hang onto indefinitely - which, honestly, I feel is methodologically more valuable but the whole exercise is about getting standing theories where possible off the table. But, then, the plan is to put up something for people to enjoy an explicit invitation to disagree with in time for it to be refined.

Anyone seen anything else on this? 1.5 release maybe?

I think I heard 3 new ships for 1.4 which by my count would leave them on 23 ships. I'll be annoyed if they count the CQC-only ships against the 30.

I am expecting a 1.5 though I'm not sure what will be in it. Passenger missions maybe? If not then a few of those remaining ships could be as useful as the Orca.

There's a news article some where that says 1.4 and cqc are out for pc/mac in September

- - - Updated - - -

It's on the Frontier site, I'll try to source it but I'm trying to keep up with the 10 or so threads going on about news. Sec.

Additional to the answers from the other CMDR's:

Lifetime Expansion pass (now only 130GBP!!! :D):
https://www.frontierstore.net/games/elite-dangerous-cat/elite-dangerous-horizons-lifetime-expansion-pass.html/

Collosale prices!

Do keep in mind that with the lifetime expansion also comes beta tester status, so you get the 97.5% insurance and get to beta test releases.

That said, same here, kickstarter plus the lifetime expansion before Elite came out. Got the free merc pack as well. ;)

And I take it you've forwarded this sterling idea on to the folks at FD yes???.........If not will you? :D

Could be more planetary landing-capable ships - unclear (to me anyways) whether all the current ships can carry an SRV, or just some of the larger ones? Passenger modules for all of the ships, and larger, luxury ones for the Orca and the like would be nice. Opens up all sorts of mission possibilities as well.

I will be annoyed also if they count the CQC ships (particularly given they are counting variants now, and there is another of those coming with the Cobra Mk IV). I wonder if we will see the long-promised founder's ship finally? Or if that is the Cobra Mk IV?

And does the UA count as a ship? (staying on-topic). ;-)

I will immediately ask David. FWIW. ;-)

I would too - but I want to know before I spend any more money on it.

Only the again "Lifetime Expansion" on the table ist to think about next days for those that have missed it at 2014.
But this call for 130 or 120GBP is now a little bit strong ...
So there must be at least 5 or 6 "Seasons" in planning.

And no sight when my Sidewinder can finaly docked at my Anaconda since stated in each Shipyard since over a year ....
Better wait until the UA convoi localisator is in the shop ... :D:D:D

Not gunna lie, I bought it 30 sec after the sale went live haha
Not for the planetary hype (seen one procedurally generated world, seen em all)
But for the simplicity of having access to all future betas & expansions.
I'm a sucker for walking around my ship and watching the UA in my cargo bay.

Shop: "The Lifetime Expansion Pass also includes access to all Elite: Dangerous Beta builds to gain an early glimpse at upcoming game content before release plus exclusive content."

This definitely new. Beta's was not included in 2014 Lifetime expansion pass!

Good point, Sir!

But because to OT here we should not fill the remaining 3000 post with the current sale politics, IMHO ...

The variants don't bother me too much as they do require a fair bit of work by FD. But I would be disappointed if any ship aimed specifically at landings was counted against the 30; those 30 were promised for ED and I do think they should be delivered before a paid expansion comes out. So I'm expecting the Cobra Mk IV to not count as one of the 30.

They said 30 player flyable ships so that rules out the UA unless someone can work out how to swap into it via the shipyard.
