Here is the real reason we don't need players owning space and structures.

That's the first time in God knows how long that I've had tears of laughter running down my face watching a YouTube video. The guy screaming at the end just floored me, thank you so much OP.

So you are saying, that no one, nowhere in Elite is acting like this? You claim there is no drama or mad/crazy people here?

I have just heard a story of Elite player group. Leader banned half of the people, because they didnt want to do as he said, apperently there was a lot of shouting as well.

Why do you think that "player owned space and structures" are the only thing that can trigger that is beyond me.

Actually no I am not saying anything about what happens in ED I posted a link to a you tube piece that had me laughing and used a cheeky title to grab attention. Seems to have caused you offence so my apology is aimed at those of you who took it serious.

Lol, can't have player owned structures because of some trash talk? This is called maintaining structure and a chain of command, ask any military vet after you play this back to them, they'll get a good chuckle out of it. I'm pretty sure a lot of the people in that recording are vets too. If this is somehow a turn-off for you,

don't create or join an Alliance in Elite: Dangerous with several hundred people and try to coordinate them to fight several hundred other people in tactically intense situations, let alone expect every last one of them to be a genius.

That was awesome! Though made me really miss Eve.

My favourite 'obvious lack of perspective' moment was a Fleet Commander demanding several hundred players call in sick from work. Something along the lines of, "I don't care. Our station's shield will be dropping in 12hrs; we need everyone, and I mean EVERYONE People!" Needless to say I went to work...

Wait, hold on. I just can't let this go yet. I can't believe the connection some people are making.

Player owned structures are why corporations fight over territory in Eve?

No.

PoS's are disposable. They're just chess pieces on the board. Corporations in Eve create, destroy, move and modify those pieces because they want control of the board. They want control of the board because it gives them access to money and resources, but above all because it's the most challenging gameplay in all that Eve has to offer.

It's because of the complicated set of mechanics that're involved in moving those pieces around on the board and controlling the board that people fight over territory. In other words, don't put those mechanics in and people don't care. There's nothing to gain from taking some backwater moon away from someone who threw up a shelter there 2 months ago and forgot about it in Elite: Dangerous because there are no sovereignty, territory, or political mechanics.

Get out of here with these comparisons. It's just sad.

Can you link to that please, because the last I heard it wasn't possible for someone who started a group in Elite Dangerous, to ban or even kick people out of the group.

I've co-ordinated groups of people and I'll tell you now, there's no need for the behavior in that video. "You can't do what you want in MY station ..." etc (he insulted another player which I can't repeat on this forum), that guy is exactly what he called the other guy in the video.

EvE players ARE welcome in the Elite community ... but anyone who comes here wanting to troll or ruin the game, they're not welcome in any community. Imagine the reaction if I joined the EvE community or the Star Citizen community and started campaigning for something that was completely at odds with the history of the game. I'd get hounded out of the community. When you join a community, and are new to that community, you don't make huge waves to begin with, you try to fit in.

We have players from Star Citizen here who accept Elite Dangerous for what it is, so why is it only ever EvE players trying to ruin things?
Don't answer that to me, answer it to yourself.

If shouting is a turn off for you? Shout harder.

Yeah, that is sock dropping genius right there :)

Well, you'll never have to tell me not to get involved in (any) of the above. That was never any part of my Elite game...And note; (nothing personal), but I'll never be a part of your game play.

What you call some trash talk is what I and other fathers try to protect our children from hearing. If I heard anyone talk to my son that way I would be on the war path as any dad should be.

The attitude of some people thinking that profanity is cool is just utter stupidity.

Would they dare to talk that to anyone in real life or even at work? No. Because all of the little boys that act this way have had a poor upbringing with little to no respect for others or themselves - you may be OK with some trash talk but expect other to make a judgement on you based on this - swearing is for those who have little to no intelligence.

Yup, pretty ignorant folk.

I don't care if you've coordinated people to get a project done at work, at an egg toss at the family reunion or whatever. Do it again in a high adrenaline environment where one person's 100% avoidable mistake costs hundreds of other people valuable time and resources. Moreover, players who join these corps expect to be yelled at if they screw up. They join because they know they're expected to perform above average and they want that pressure because it makes succeeding that much more satisfying. They talk with the group's leaders and get an idea for how they maintain their corporation and if they don't like it, they don't join. The leaders handle individuals individually, some people do better with honey, some people need a stick. If you really have led large groups then you know there is always going to be one person that you've just got to get in their face and bring them to reality to get them cooperating with the rest. That's a fact of life. You don't flip a coin 100 times and have it land on head 100 times.

Eve players aren't here trying to ruin things. If they wanted to play Eve they'd still be playing it. There is not a single EvE player here or there that thinks Elite: Dangerous can or ever will take the place of Eve for one simple fact: The map.

Why do you guys think that everything an Eve player suggests is out to ruin the game? Why can't anything they suggest be beneficial to the mechanics and gameplay that Elite already has in place and build upon what is successful in Elite: Dangerous, and not Eve?

Get a grip. Nobody is coming from Eve to Elite: Dangerous to try and recreate CCP's decade-long work in progress that is so convoluted and intricate that most of CCP's own devs don't even understand how it works anymore. Comments about this are about making Elite: Dangerous into the best game it can be building upon what it already has.

I'm shocked that no one in that video was yelling "carry harder", or "learn to play". :)
