Here is the real reason we don't need players owning space and structures.

Played with Moonlight Shakers (Dadeth clan) though never joined them directly as well as some WNx guys, when they stopped running their own server we all moved to the n00bstories server. On rare occasions we played on Jelly server.
Haven't played since 2009 though.

Feel like I should say something on topic as well...but I got nothin' anymore. :D

Ah yeah, I played with FN/MP and enjoyed a few matches against WNx (and played against WNx on CSS as well). Lots of fun games in Renegade, loved that game. Hosted a small sniper server as well, I was only a pup while playing, but I always remember everyone in the community being friendly.

Apparently they understand that, because if they didn't ultimately get along these same people wouldn't get together in Reykjavik to meet, hang out and party for 3 days every year.
I want to make one thing very clear with regard to my statements I have made in this thread: They only apply to the people we heard on the video.

I'm sure EVE players in general are no less nice than Elite people, WoW people, Shiny Happy People, you know ... people.

Making judgment on somebody based on the game they're playing is loony tunes.

Any mods following the thread here. I have apologised in the thread for having used a cheeky title to the thread and that I should have added the word humour to the title so it would not have been seen as knocking of Eve, and that it was a lighthearted attempt at putting a smile on peoples faces after all the negative threads following the Horizons posts.
It seems though the thread is degenerating into a knock Eve thread v's support Eve thread. So as it has completely moved away from the original intention could you please close the thread.

You have no need to apologise Commander. If some people feel strongly about another game, whether it be for it or against it, is no reflection on your post.

I actually enjoyed the clip you posted, gave me a chuckle and brought back memories of playing BF2 - although if anyone spoke to me like that he would have been kicked from the squad and clan before he finished :D I do understand the intent, I think the same thing would happen in ED if guilds and player owned stations were allowed. Unfortunately it is human nature, there would be some that would take the scenario as reality and just like being bullies and tards lol

Yes, yes they do. As a matter of fact organizations that you depend on every day have been doing it for centuries.

Nice to see them keeping it clean for the cameras, ask anyone who has been through boot camp how clean they keep it.

It's crude but effective, so that you don't have moments like this.

In an environment where you have nothing to motivate people but your voice. You stick with what works.

Quite simply, it works. And as I said, if you don't like it, all you have to do is not get involved. People join those corps because they expect a strict and disciplined structure, and you're only going to get that one way over a microphone when you have to deal with the worst as well as the best.

Bro, my kid is 9. He's not about to go into the military tomorrow, I've given him until the end of the summer holidays at least. Think about the video again, would the British Army have created the largest Empire on Earth if it behaved like those people in the video? No, Because they have no disipline. They have no ability to operate under pressure. They also lack the emotional intelligence to understand emotions in others.

Use of profanity often ensure's it looses it's intended impact. When your known for not swearing but eventually do so, it is noticed far more than when used as often as a Californian girl would say 'like'.

I agree the military way works but even they know how and when it is best used. In basic they use the tactics shown in the clips to break everyone of the recruits down to the same level, then build them up as a team with positive reinforcement.

Please don't equate to what you saw in those video clips as a true reflection of life in the military. That type of verbal abuse only happens in a training establishment and is permitted for a very specific reason - to militarise the new recruits. It is actually fun if you have any smarts, I remember my DI (Drill Instructor) trying that on us and most of us burst into laughter. yes we had the extra pushups to do etc as punishment but because we didn't screw up anything the verbal yelling in the face quickly faded.

To be honest, if I would have seen one of my junior NCO's abusing a lower rank like that in normal military life, the NCO would be looking for a new job, there are far better ways than screaming like an idiot at someone to get them to do what you want. My troops feared me more when I went quiet than when I was loud, that was when I was really umm upset at the situation.

Anyone who thinks thinks that it is ok for one person to talk to another person like that has no idea nor concept of respect. Respect for others or self respect. There is absolutely NO benefit in screaming at someone and abusing them, regardless of the situation. As a manager in real life, this kind of behavior would only have negative consequences for myself and the business. Yes, I get it, its a military simulation, there will be some degree of high energy motivation in interactions between ranks of players. But actual derogatory remarks and excessive swearing will not help ANY situation, military or otherwise. If you really want to improve lower ranked player skills that are under your command, then train them, offer them support, listen to them and guide them. Screaming at them with obscenities about what to do is utterly useless. Any GOOD commander understands this, the rest, well.. we saw the video..

However if your having a game with a bunch of mates and one of your friends is doing something epically stupid, then gloves are off.. lol

Respecting someone will yield far greater returns than just screaming at them with foul language. In the end that person is just going to tell you to F^%k off.
