Yes, I still have mine. Though I'm parked this week & on vacation w/o access to a gaming computer. (Tried 5 CMDRs to carry it in my stead, none could/wanted to.)

I think it is time to reproduce your awesome test where the UA sound changed: no more BG pseudo-morse (VID 8) and just TWO very low purrs.
You were three, very close to the UA, in that occasion:
let's bring another ship close to it and do the Dance of the Four
Easiest test in the world: I'm expecting even less purrs (ONE or NONE).
The next test, a little more complicated, should be with 12 ships close to the UA: three wings of four, EXACTLY LIKE THE PODS.
And I'm starting to think that being in a wing, better of 4, could "increase" the chance to find an UA as well...
Remember again and again: UA + Wings came together. I still think that the mistery is solvable by one lone CMDR, but perhaps a wing could speed up things a bit?

As of 18:38 EST, there are only 1-2 other people in my instance. Everyone seems pretty chill, just searching for the UAs
I'm back from vacation in 10 hours, after that I'd be happy to join in with a Sidewinder, or Anaconda if there should be some protection from NPC's or something like that. Would be fun to see an UA for 'real' after searching for one for

We recently had 4 in-game (RK, myself, Raum...m & Delmante). There's no hard limit of three.
Thinking on the success of Biscuit Barrel & today's finds.
Here's an experiment everyone can help with:
* Spend 30 minutes in Timocani (or similar), recording the number of SSS you see (ideally including times as well)
* Wing up (the more the merrier) & spend another 30 minutes recording the number of SSS you see
The hypothesis being "perhaps being in a wing increases your odds of rolling a SSS", which would explain the success of Biscuit Barrel & why the solo commanders have had such a terrible chance of finding the convoy.
The expected result (more SSS & higher convoy likelihood) would radically change how we hunt them as well as a potentially better supply/stream of UAs, making the destructive theories much easier to conduct.

I had 12 SSS in my first hour, 11 in my 2nd hour. 3 of the 23 were the "right" convoy, but carrying Hafnium 178.
I was winged with Danubezoe, nilreb and MonkeyD most of that time.
This was in Timocani from 19:45 to about 21:40.
That would be my conclusion as well. I will be following Reddit more closely now to watch for this sort of thing.
Incidentally, I've never seen him UA hunting. I hunt exclusively in open. Has anyone else?
It was suggested a long time ago you should be in a Wing to get a UA - but everyone assumed it was simply due to the difficulty in taking on the convoy and then in transporting cargo that degrades your ship. It'd be interesting if that were an excuse rather than a reason; and there's some reason they want multiple ships around the UA/convoy.

I stand corrected. Went back through my screenshots & the heats sinks are the smaller circles.
One day, someone is going to find the solution. He will see the Artefact light up and from apparently nowhere it will sound a new Morse code signal. It says

Wait so if we get into the right SSS there will be a convoy carrying the UA?!?? I just blew up a T7 that was wanted and being escorted by 4 other wanted ships without scanning its cargo or waiting for them to start talking about systems malfunctions or whatever is supposed to happen.
