UA Mystery Thread 3: The Canonn

...

And CMDRs should travel and explore a lot, in my opinion: if you remember, back in the old days, we've always thought that the UA mystery was Exploration-related.
We stopped when we discovered that the UA causes modules damage.

Perhaps the mystery can be solved even without an UA in hold, but just understanding why they are found there and not somewhere else... exploring...

I agree. Having and analysing the UAs was/is good fun and we learned a lot from it, but the solution may not be in how does it work but in the why does it appear. We did something similar with trying to extrapolate the source region with the rare goods trajectory. I think we found the source region or at least one of them. The next step is to look for WHY HERE and after that (or parallel) WHERE ELSE (maybe).

I should go to bed now .. I'm excited to read the 20+ new pages tomorrow. ;)

Lol fly through the middle and.....

If you look at your YT video at ~19:00 https://youtu.be/fRWhABRHrpA?t=1137 it's the way the Hauler dumps them, in sets of 3 in a triangle, x 2.

So it's two triangles overlaid, happening as it comes out of the Hauler rather than the UA's organising themselves or somesuch.

There we go thinking we were onto something, and along you come as usual to spoil it with your logic and evidence and stuff... ;-)

I never called anyone ''morons'' where do you see that in my previous answe/post, you are using blind faith and mis-judgement based on your own opinion IF i think something is funny it doesn't imply the person is an idiot for suggesting it. It's people like you who will never resolve the answer because of your flawed egocentric self miss-judging issues. Look at this problem in a more linear approach, I said that like 30 post ago.

I feel like I owe you money for that insightful diagnosis into my personality. Would you accept Cheerios as payment? I've already read the cereal box, and expect you'll get along with them just fine.

@Derthek: What test were you alluding to? It would be interesting to try some tests with a non-degrading UA, as that's a bit of a game-changer as far as what we have already carried out.

I think we all need to be a bit more open and direct, as opposed to far too much 'wink wink, the red eagle flies at night, nudge nudge'. Teamwork, guys!!

Somehow, this and the thread reminds me of a song:
"And what have you got at the end of the day?
What have you got to take away?
A bottle of whiskey and a new set of lies
Blinds on the window and a pain behind the eyes"

Still, following the thread and enjoying it! :)

I only like Red Berries Cereal special K with low sodium. Unlike the cheerios not so good and filled with suga. You haven't been reading me properly you can easily tell I am careful about what I eat. Your diagnosis of my health wasn't good enough you should know that cheerios sodium is well above 25-30% not very good.

I have to say, it feels like the old times ... a "new" mystery about rare appearing artefacts ... a user claiming he knows it all an smartassing everyone ... new found enthusiasm - we are onto something, even if it's a few hundred or thousand more posts that will certainly entertain us, regardless of the results.

Ok, im a teensy weensy bit drunk right now, so take this into account ;)

lotsapeople said:
it can be solved in game

Ok, what can you do with salvage in game? You can sell it. I know that this has been suggested before but due to the scarcity of the damn things people developed a "my precious" attitude toward them. Not surprising, I would have done too.

But now we seem to have a endless supply of them (relatively). Maybe it's time to start to focus the efforts on mass selling of them? Have we actually sold one?

Ok, I have to head to hr 1185, put my money where my mouth is.

Sole Hunter - if you find this thread so entertaining - why would seek to bring it to a premature close? I'm not understanding your motives...

There is a general sense of humour here that, I think, is reasonably safe for all.

There are some here (including me) who chuck out wild, entertaining theories because it's fun to join those particular dots, and the rest of us enjoy watching those dots being joined, even if they lead nowhere. This thread has become as much about the community (growing all the time) taking part in it as much as it is about the quest itself.

I've not even taken part in a single test, gone looking for a single UA, nor contributed anything actually material to this hunt other than ideas, support for other people's ideas, or pointing out the flaws in other people's ideas.

Not once has anybody called me out and said 'who do you think you are?' When in other online groups that would almost certainly have happened.

Yes I will scoff at listening to it underwater, for example, because it makes no sense when you actually analyse it deeper. Does it mean that the person who comes up with that idea becomes a pariah? No (although that particular person disagrees)! Yes there have been disagreements, but by and large they get sorted reasonably quickly.

Are you genuinely struggling to understand why your comments are not being welcomed? Your involvement amounts to no more than 'I know and you lot don't' - whilst complimenting some of us on our 'intelligence' whilst at the same time knowing that, because you've told us you know the answer, that must make you more intelligent - it's no more than patting yourself on the back because you've not got any other recognition from solving it.

So you figured it out for yourself - well done; I genuinely mean that.

I, for one, will be slightly sad when eventually the mystery is over because there's almost certainly nothing else in the game yet that even comes close, and this disparate group of players will have less reason to wing-up here when they're not playing, to exchange ideas and fun comments, in an effort to bring some extra life to a galaxy that struggles for real organic human interaction outside of PowerPlay, which can hardly be said to be organic.

You see - knowing the 'answer' for most of us is only part of the thing. There's a puzzle/riddle (or whatever it is there) to be solved, and we want to solve it. But the getting there is where the bulk of the entertainment lays.

I love it when an idea I have is proven wrong, or at least not proven - it means there's more. I also love it if someone challenges my idea, because it means I have to think more, possibly changing my mind.

I don't like it when somebody knows the answer, doesn't really do anything constructive with that knowledge, and just sits there and tells us how smart they are, and therefore, by extension how dumb everyone else is. You don't need to say it explicitly - it's implicit in what you say. It's not at all helpful, and is not at all in the spirit of what this thread is about. There were other ways to have an influence here that would have been more helpful.

You just chose the wrong one, for me - and that's a shame.

And of course, the rest of the many great people contributing here may well disagree with me - and I'm fine with that - because it's not about one person, but everyone.

Scotty doesn't know either. :D ;)

Maybe he should give the answer and put an end to this nightmare oh noes.

@LordZoltan, I don't.... why would I want it to end, no one is going believe me anyway I'm just this random dude who claims he knows the answer, y'all should listen to the egyptian dude.

Fun will only last for a bit after a while it's no longer funny, I'm about to hit the tip point of what's not funny anymore so yeh. Do I have an agenda, that's the question you should ask.

Of course I do...why do you think I waited so long to post.

EDIT : @LordZoltan, you pretty much answered yourself in this post do you expect this riddle to be lasting forever, FD is eventually going to add more stuff to do and more lore it's only a matter of time.

You sound like this is the only way you are going to enjoy the game. This game has a really good community and you will find something else to do believe me because the answer to this puzzle doesn't lead to anything exceptional or game changing believe me when I say that.

You can over-analyse me all you want it won't change the facts.

Ah, easy mistake to make. I was thinking that the high sugar content was an explanation for your obvious ADHD ;)

Jokes aside, do you actually have any leads, or are you actually wasting peoples time with attention seeking riddles? The only point I can see that adds any credibility to your comments is that Kerrash moderated one of your posts.

Like I said. That's the only point of credibility I can see. And it's tenuous. At best.

I haven't read about this elsewhere, so I think it may be worth sharing here.

Last night I arrived at HIP 19147, which seemed to me as a perfect staging base for exploration sorties to the Pleiades and beyond. Docked at Priest Survey, I was curious to see what kind of missions one can get at the very frontier of the Human reach. I checked out the billboard and found two missions which I haven't seen before:

* "Confused(?) in the Outer Rim" - This is a curious "fact finding" mission that only requires the pilot to fly to the other station in the system, offering a 40,000 CR reward. The mission description suggests that HIP 19147 locals may have information relevant to the search for "the gate to other worlds". In order to get this mission, one needs Elite Explorer rating (which I sadly don't have).

* The other one - I cannot remember its name, something about "the wheel of time" - requires to fly in search of Dark Wheel convoys carrying SAP 8 Containers (offering a substantial reward of 300,000 CR for retrieving one of those things).

Has anyone seen these missions before? The content of the mission descriptions and the location are certainly conspicuous.

I like this idea - makes sense from a game mechanic perspective. I'm heading over there now, and I'm bringing a nice Chianti with me!

Work in process skin, clearly more than 3 colours so probably won't be aloud.

This puzzle is making me go out of my comfort zone a bit; I have never really strayed from collecting bounties and smuggling illegal goods, but I just equipped a fuel scoop in preparation for a journey that spans from Sol to HR 1185.
