News Sneek Peek #5 - Slow zoom from the edge of a misty crater

I haven't seen any improvements in graphics in our current game season since its release in 2014. Why should I expect it for Horizons? Planets with atmospheres are not planned for Horizons and we don't know when we'll see them (definitely not before the end of 2016). Volcanic planets will be a new feature - they will look different and amazing from 300 meter and above point i'm sure (this video in 0P proves it). Not so sure about up-close view - maybe they plan to make it look great right before release in a few weeks time. I'll wait, don't want to get my hopes high and get disappointed like with current game.

This video shows a (in part) volcanic planet...just not with active volcanism added yet, which will come later in the season.

OK now just give me a minute...

That is... beautiful. The difference between this video and what we saw only a few short weeks ago is marked. The LOD transitions are so much smoother. The sense of scale as you see the Cobra recede into the distance next to that huge mist covered crater, only to then notice the much, much larger crater on the flip side of the planet! Just, wonderful. The beta really can't arrive soon enough. Brilliant work, guys.

That was not a cobra...

Who ever said we could only land on moons?

That was a reference to it looking like a death star from star wars... did i say anything about only landing on moons? NO.
