News Sneak Peek - Illegal racing in an installation

This is going to be so good. So many possibilities for planets, bases and SRVs.

Might just have to order that 980ti sooner rather than later now...

Question: Are the bases and star ports modular and built procedurally so we get some real variance in styles ans size ?
IIRC they will be more like Outposts than the Coriolis or Orbis. So, more PG and more variety.

Still my guess is FD won't spice them up with input from the background sim as much as they could. Like state of war, poverty, famine, and colors and banners based on affiliation and local factions and local product billboards and such. Hopefully that is on the roadmap or wish-list somewhere.

Just thinking about how to organize an actual competitive race... I assume an observer in a ship will have to be overhead making sure everyone sticks to the assigned route (or hits all the waypoints)?

We have racing planned ;)

but...

..hey.... wait a minute....

a desert planet....

...A DESERT PLANET ??? o_o

could this mean it has an ATMOSPHERE ?? :O
No, obviously not.
Besides, as of 2015 there is no official category called Desert Planets. So desert planets could be anything. In this game I assume their just hot dry planets that look like the Sahara desert(atmosphere or not).

Did anyone notice that instead of a small triangle in the center of the sensor disc there is an image of the SRV?

Could portend a change for the ship-board display?

Also, "Data Link Scan" on the secondary weapon spot on the left.

Also, the height stalk of the targeted SRV showed it above the level of the driver's SRV, which was not correct... hope that gets fixed.

@Alien, you can see the Lat/Lon coordinates in the video DB posted if you can watch it.

That's something I'd really like to know, too.

Are they "tile-based"-procedurally generated?

Totally manually "authored"? Which would probably mean we only have a handful of variations in the bubble?

My poor heart can't take much more.....

Fantastic peek again. Thanks David.

Goes for a lie down in a darkened room.

"Data Link Scan" will be the outpost hacking that has been mentioned.

This question was asked and answered in one of DB's Q&As recently, but I can't recall the exact answer!

Other than it being very nice - the other thing that struck me is the lack of people or vehicles. You'd think there would be construction vehicles moving around or people in space suits...

It seems very lifeless.
