News Horizons Beta Delay to Monday 30th November

Well I am OK with the delay. I am out Friday night, and all day Saturday so Monday is good for me. I took Tuesday off have a good look at it and see how it runs on my modest resources (680M card). I am looking forward to restarting SRV only in the beta, and depending on how it goes might do it for real with my 2nd character in game.

I would have much preferred to get a second character to restart with Horizons, rather than the discount for existing players, as I think many like me, will not want to give up there millions to restart, as it means fewer ship choices to take to the planets.

Yup, my sentiments exactly. I want to be taking a fully loaded Cutter down to the surface to see how it reacts etc. I might even take a Type 9 down as well for the laughs. I certainly can't do this from a starter Sidewinder in any reasonable beta testing time. I have no issues with starting again from scratch later on in the beta though.

And I'm perfectly fine with the delay till Monday. I'm slightly disappointed that I have to wait a bit, but that's purely a selfish reaction on my part. Looking forward to Monday :)

Why?

OpenGL was always a bit lame and brought more issues. Perhaps vulcan will be better but there is no reason DX12 shouldn't be an update especially given the performance gains (already proven).

And DCS has pretty much broken VR. Yes it can be displayed but it's so badly optimised even on minimum settings there is judder.

As mentioned earlier; what good is to release a game that has a breaking bug? If the bug manifest rarely, then yes, make sense to release the build, but I suspect that you found pretty serious and game breaking issues, which satisfy the first rule of software development: if ain't doing what the requirements says, ain't good.

BTW regular players found few design bugs more than once; you may want to give credit to them too. This won't diminish the value that internal QA add, with their work, to be clear.

I would be surprised if it would be....that would probably cause angry mob eating brick by brick Frontier building :)

of course there won't be any restarts. just HOW many times do fdevs have to repeat the exact same words every time a patch drops, or in this case an expansion? do you want to drive them insane ?

On that note, if you're waiting for DCS you'll be happy to know that BMS v4.33 has been released and looks absolutely fantastic.

But yeah, on topic I think this whole drama is so out of line, it's not even funny.

I don't think you read the context of my post. It was a reply to a comment saying that someone paid for the game and therefore developers should deliver it on time (this was in regards to beta roll out delay).

1.5 Beta and 2.0 Beta will be playing in the same worlds - though we want to encourage 2.0 people to restart (don't worry - it won't affect your main game save), as we have a new on-the-surface start position.

praise lord gaben :D il make sure to reset my save in the beta then right after i practice landing the cutter would prefer getting some practice with that so i dont crash that expensive ship in the main game :p

Maybe, just maybe, he doesn't want to weary out his team and is giving them this weekend off.

They worked through the weekend, and the last thing you need is to be going in to a new weekend with a Beta just released and an exhausted team jumping on bugs...

Monday sounds sensible then.

All,

Can you please try to remember that with the release of Horizons beta and Horizons, there are a lot of new players joining the game and/or the forums who may not be familiar with how FD normally handle release dates and releases, and the intricacies around beta tests and player accounts.

Also many players may not have English as their native language and may have some difficulty understanding posts.

Please keep this in mind when you reply and try to be helpful to those who are possibly in the same situation you were once in.

If you don't want to answer their questions, it's best not to reply at all and let someone else answer.

Well it's just no good enough. FD coming round here throwing free additional content at me all the time. How am I supposed to cope?

Something should be done about it. I shall write to my MP.

If that fails, I shall ask Mr. Putin to intervene, he seems to get stuff done.
