UA Mystery thread 4 - The Canonn

Going strictly by lore I don't believe there were actual Ai wars... All the major factions basically started research and came to the realization (rather quickly) that Ai was more Terminator than R2-D2 so they stopped all research and dropped it.

Now. That doesn't mean that some more unscrupulous independent splinter groups or independent researches didn't get the memo and forged on with fully functional Ai constructs with obvious negative consequences and that we are now starting to see the effects of it.

There were billions of androids living among humans. The had the same basic rights as humans in the federation.
Sirius corporation have had several Android CEOs. Some of them didn't work well ;-)

Crazy theory №7...5

1)Unknown Artefacts which seems to say: "Hey, you! In that fancy ship. Go there. [Points to (Merope) a certain place.]".
2)'The Missing' GalNet article.
3)Strange messages with the "Eye" missions.
(That seems to me like some kind of intercepted messages. Pretty depressing messages, I would say. What could be worse than the "Hello World" in deep space. The message that no one will hear. The message that you would write when you lost any hope. And in binary code! "Hello World" is the most simple and small program in any programming language. It emphasizes your size in this galaxy. Pilot left without fuel, writing ones and zeroes, the message that no one ever get ...
But I went off topic here.)

Combine all this (on medium heat on the stove).

Maybe by taking the "Eye missions", we download program (or AI) on our ships which can receive a very distant and weak messages? Take this mission and head to UA. Possible outcomes:
a)The "Eye" program will give us new messages encrypted in UA sounds.
b)The "Eye" program will give us messages from the system pointed by UA (Merope now, but there may be other systems later).
c)The "Eye" program and UA will lead us to missing people and Halsey.(?!)

One thing to keep in mind, all the eye mission descriptions seem to be lines from movies, books, or pop culture. I suspect the strange wording to be filler for the beta. They talked about adding "go here and scan this" missions, as well as PL based missions. My money is on exploration missions.

Aye (or should that be: 'eye') - I have a feeling you might be right on all accounts there. Mission types whose content is 'classified' in the Beta, but where the mission delivery mechanism is being tested instead.

Or it is just the eyes taking over the stations...

Or that is part of it... an alien (or artificial construct) culture spewing back what it has learned from us.

Winning.

"Hello World"

Isnt that a basic Java app language thing eg,

class HelloWorldApp {
public static void main(String[] args) {
System.out.println("Hello World!"); // Display the string.
}
}

My money goes on AI...

Respect to all you Canonn guys o7 Fly Safe.

Not just Java it's apparently the equivalent of Testing 1,2,3 in amplified sound systems but for programming languages. Something simple and easy (and catchy).

Brookes talking AI (from the first Fiction Diary), skip to 8:30:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6z5OK8J5pg

"It is believed that maybe 1 or 2 [dangerous AIs] have escaped into deep space, but who knows? Maybe we shall find out..."

;)

He also talks Alien Artifacts and Thargoids. Not much, of course, just hinting and winking.

My thoughts about this AI, graveyard of vultures and pythons, medi convoys and that Brookes talking:
Med.convoys revive to life AIs, and get it back life/online and get destroyed by them?

Or when mission is completed(AI revived) they get orders to go at a predetermined location. Then someone takes their cargo and removes witnesses....

My money is on this as well. I would even put put a pack of biscuits on it.

But why would they replace the missions with filler content if that were the case? That doesn't make any sense to me.

I've been trying to think of a reason, myself. One idea is the possibility that exploration missions may involve Halsey, UA, or thargoids so they don't want to spoil anything. Another more likely idea is that the beta server is absolutely awful at handling cartographic data. You need to rescan a system almost any time you enter it just to see the map. Perhaps the missions would be unfinishable? Those are just two theories. I don't think the eye missions are anything spooky / scary
