Can someone explain me where the fun part in this alpha 2.0 is ? I watched the 2 posted Vids and think wow boring stuff.
Some nice graphics but framerates suck. Alone most of the time, when some players show up either you grief em or they grief you.
Flying in the spaceships seem highly unrealitic to me, especialy when you turn around.
I would also like to see something new. Most vids show always the same stuff, must be lack of content i guess.
If someone show me this and ask me if i wanted to buy it now, i would say no way.
Would not even install it if you pay me 200$.
Well, nobody is forcing you to play it, neither pay so you would play it, fell free to go play some game you like!
2.0 is fun on what it is, its sandboxy approach that let's players to do what they want, either it is missions, exploring, parting with friends on multi-crew, FPS, as well other random stuff players just find themselves doing. It's not Star Citizen the game yet, it's simply the first alpha of the universe, as said "Star Citizen Alpha’s 2.0 update sets the stage for Star Citizen’s persistent universe, offering players access to multi-crew ships, large world maps and FPS combat for the first time. Citizens can look forward to additional ships, locations and game mechanics being built on top of this foundation as development progresses.".
So if someone is expecting Star Citizen already with 2.0, then that person will be greatly disappointed, if someone is expecting one early alpha that gives you a taste of things to come, then sure.
Curious about the mission system. Everyone is getting the same mission in the PTU. I can see a couple hundred thousand gamers all playing the same mission over and over to turn the radio relay back on... will seem weird. I think in this regard it will be interesting to see what SC has at 'release' versus Elite. Hand-crafted is great for single player but will this fly with hundreds of thousands of players all doing the exact same mission to a lame outpost no-one defends and keeps going offline?
Lastly, if stealing a million credit ship is as easy as walking into it then the game is in trouble of constant goonery. OK for alpha but this won't work in the persistent game. How are they going to handle stolen ships and shooting at stations? Wasn't there talk of security and security access to doors controlled by players? Currently it is too easy to take someone else's ship. I can see maybe stealing one of the golf carts that easily, but not any spaceship.
P.S. Mr. Nowak, tireless promoter of a different company's space game the FD forums, have you bought ED Horizons? It is the least you could do for FD this holiday season, in payment for all the shilling you do here for SC/CIG.
The mission system is just it's first iteration, they are already working on fleshing out new mission types, both FPS, Space, the actual NPC Missions once AI is added to the stations and land-able areas, so yeah there's much more to do, but that now the future as new patches release and release, they are focusing on the game mechanics now over actually add new content, as the mechanics need a lot of polish and several of them specially multi-crew and FPS have a pipeline of features to be added.
That's Insurance pretty much, the game is meant to have Safe areas and Dangerous areas, pretty much Danger Level, mechanics like ship locking will arrive, legal and ilegal PvP will happen, consequences to griefing / ilegal PvP will happen, but again, it won't happen on the first alpha release of the universe, but if you search about it, there's a lot of info on the design of this, things like the FPS Station will far said have actually enemy AI not really PvP, depending of them classifying that area as safe PvP or not.. Currently 2.0 is just a very sandbox environment by itself, this is why it is setup this way.
Also that last comment, FD Community Rules you know....
