News Horizons and 1.5 launch - Servers offline

We bought beta access to all beta tests. Pre-orders of Horizons ONLY got pre-release beta access for Horizons only as a bonus. They do not, AFAIK, get future beta access unless they got the lifetime expansion pass which includes beta access.

Please feel free to correct me on this about the betas if I am incorrect. I am going by what I read in the past and an email from the FD team in response to a question about Horizons when it was first announced :)

Afaik only people who have bought Horizons Beta or LEP will be getting beta access through season 2.

Unless you have another source, I will be amazed if non-beta pre-orders get beta access, see how crazy that sounds.. :)

Thanks for correcting me :) I was unaware of a different purchase option. I did not have to buy Horizons having bought the lifetime expansion pass when I bought beta access weeks before the original beta programme started for ED and not Horizons. My mistake :)

How much longer will this take, please?
It's been down quite a while now...?

As it says, around 4PM GMT (1.5 hours from now).

*EDIT* Actually, it does not say 4PM! LOL But it has been noted in the comments that the servers should be up at 4PM.

Hi,

Does installing via the new launcher bring me the most recent gamefiles to play whenever the servers are upgraded?
Or will there be an extra update when upgrading is done?

Thanks in advance

Pathetic...

For the love of God, please just stop and go play another game. No one is interested in the politics of commercial game sales ITT.

Why do you angry weirdos insist on pushing your negativity on everyone else. You're not enlightening anyone, just making a damned fool of yourself.

Been playing the beta for a week now, and loving the experience. Can't wait to have my planetary exploits count towards actual character progress!

After saving for a Python for what felt like my whole life, I finally got one. After playing Horizons beta i have to say it has changed my whole take on the game. Anyone else found this? An ASP explorer is almost a MUST, truly epic windshield to take in all the views. Save a bit of money so that when you find a planet you really like, get to the nearest star port (if there is one) and buy an eagle. I spend about 4 hours just screaming about the canyons and gorges.

To the people who haven't played this game yet, i promise you, lock up the wife and kids because it is truly awesome and creates so much excitement and gameplay.

P.S hurry up and fire up those servers FD! I'm nearly out of Star Wars films.

I take it you haven't actually seen Airplane! ?

Yes I have, many times over, enough to know it by heart as it's one of my favourite movies of all time. But that does not excuse a violation of the forum rules :p

*EDIT* In fact I know the movie so well that I know your earlier quote of it is not strictly correct ;)

lol, it is the ONLY point that is relevant : if you pay, it is not a beta by the purest definition.

You can call it what you want. What's important is what the developers call it. They call it Beta so it is Beta. Forget the technicalities and pre-conceptions. Technicalities and pre-conceptions won't be worth a hill of beans at the end of the day. FD wanted and wants to put out the best product they can. Therefore they released their test builds to the players, but realized that they needed to charge something. Nothing that is free is valued or appreciated. What we receive too cheaply, we esteem too lightly. Sure, they could have called it "Early Access" or "Anticipated Access", but that wouldn't encourage people to report bugs. Like it or not what you call something is important. Names convey power. Beta is much more conducive to generating bug reports than Anticipated Access or Early Access.

Therefore it really was a Beta, even if technically it wasn't done like most Beta's have traditionally been done.
