Well, that explains the damage done when picking the things up, then. It's the tiny commanders seen sparkling around it, that tries to shoot their way out of the huge monster that ate them and their space station whole.

You can get them from any High Tech economy system, just set you galaxy map to only show high tech systems and you should find plenty around Dahan.

So I hate to get all Meta about the Met-A, but if you could mine the stuff from an asteroid or pick it up floating in space, they would have just put it in with 1.4. It would have been a perfect thing to put in 1.4, because then we'd all buy horizons to try to find the large barnacles.
It's on the surface. It has to be. They wouldn't spend this long working on Horizons and waiting to advance the mystery without giving us some seriously juicy nuggets on the surface. But they also might expect it to take us months to find, so they can sit in their lairs stroking their beards or fluffy cats while chuckling occasionally.

True, but I think that's still open to interpretation, and doesn't have to mean floating. I'd consider things on the surface of airless moons to still be "space".
Agreed. It could mean that it is found on the surface of planets in certain regions of space as likely as it could mean "in space" in certain regions of space.
Edit: I only ever saw the certain regions of space bit, but it does indeed just refer to space... hmm.

Easily machined and grouped under industrial material I also read that they can be produced as well.
Also as far as made in space we do that today. A lot of new molecular compounds and experimental medicines are made in space.
I think it means 'only found in space' rather than being found in factories or shops.
I still think planet surfaces are a valid spot that would come under 'in space'. A barren world that has stashes of rare material.

Its pretty clear that the temple/ziggurat must be on the dark side of a tidally locked moon most likely. Why would anything hidden or trying to hide be on the light side of anything..
Also I keep getting salvagable wreckage way out here.. only shows for a few seconds and then disappears.. I'm out California Nebula right now.. pretty far for wreckage. I've had these pop up a few times now but never was able to target and check it out in time before it vanished.
