Strange things afoot!
UA related or just space fever?

Bara Brith. A good SOLID food from Wales. :)

So what's with this weird 'Spear' of stars just Galactic-south of the California Nebula? Is it something similar to what was mentioned previously?

Whenever you see a "road" of stars on the Galaxy Map, imagine what it looks like to look down the long axis. This is Frontier's attempt to get a star cluster in-game.
All those stars will have "proper" catalogue numbers instead of a procedurally generated system name and you can look up the index using an astronomical database like SIMBAD. MB is on record as saying that he really liked SIMBAD when he was seeding the Stellar Forge with "real" stars.
IT WASN'T ME!!!
Not this time! 49 Arietis, 64 Arietis and even Varati might have been me, but not Maia. The only UA I've had recently suffered a catastrophic containment failure on the surface of Merope 1 B (I shot it).

J'Zhargo if you're already around planets with a UA please check what you hear if you deploy the artifact from srv then lift off with the ship. Stay close to the UA and please check if you hear morse.
I don't and i ask someone to make a cross check for days.

I have to admit I have no idea how the morse code should sound . I hear all sort of sounds, but I could record it and post a link here. I do get scanned as soon as I drop the UA on the surface.

It was earlier reported that UAs now seem to move when dropped close to a planet.
Maybe trying to jettison an UA near a planet will result in the UA dropping down to the surface, thereby creating the Barnacles POI?

Dropping them from ship will result in volatile cargo.
I cannot confirm anything else, apart from a UA that stays on the surface until destruction,
when dropping from ship.

When droped from high altiude the UA will break on inpact.
That could very well be what it is supposed to do.

HIP 21285 A 1

There spawned a lot of UAs and all headed towards the planet. I landed on the planet and did a quick survey but found nothing new besides the usual POIs.

Then I picked up a UA and dropped it on the planet. Nothing happened there either.

I just came across a free-floater in COL 258 Sector SSO A8-1, and it's stationary like they all have been for me. Is yours maybe caught in the planet's gravity well? Or maybe it's something specific to that part of space?

I am quite new to this whole UA endeavour, and I am currently ~135 Ly from merope and had a lot of UAs. What puzzled me now is that the UA I am now encountering is moving at around 7 m/s in direction of a nearby planet.

Was this already discovered ?

Anyway I will try to land on that planet and see what I might find.

I've posted about this a while back, both from beta (in the other thread as to not state this), and in live. Tried it in several systems and posted results on this thread, but it was for the most part ignored. I don't think there's much importance to it. The speed does appear to vary from planet to planet based on gravity, but haven't done any in depth research on the subject.

I can't really tell if they are falling toward the planet directly, or as part of an orbit.

I never found anything out of ordinary on the planets in question though, and I'm glad someone else has actually seen the same behaviour.

If UA's do not normally move, how did they get in space in the first place? Either they warp in or they are being dropped. I wondered about some of the strange shadows people reported seeing on planets if maybe they were not in-fact cloaked ships.

That's interesting, because I just sold some stuff on the BM there as well as the regular commodities market a few seconds ago. Plus I repaired and refueled. Unless it's not active in game yet.

It's Harma that closed. Obsidian is open. Only some issues for now.

If sales stop now, it will probably stay open.

What the......why people why???? Now I can't explore merope without having to go far distances.......who did this????

shouldn't be shut down ....... yet ;)
Palins outpost is nearly at tier 1 so there should be a lab to land at in the next few weeks, we might be able to use it as resupply base as palin twiddles his thumbs

Well this time can we not get the blackmarket? So we don't have a chance of lossing all of it like this?

PS I'm now going off to Maia in the hopes that I can get one last ship repair in on my modules and such before it takes effect then.

Acting surprised in. 3....2....1.... really?

You actually thought this wouldn't happen? I have oceanfront real estate on the Moon for sale at a great price if you really did. Either people did their thing and sold UAs en masse (highly likely) or this is FD's way of lighting a fire under our collective behinds (also likely). I think it's a bit of both personally.

Bond Hub has been malfunctioning for weeks now.

Obvipusly, we've suggested people now actively try to bring it down (plus another group has volunteered one of theirs) - but ultimately the station having malfunctions doesn't mean anything.

Oh... Except that it could be shut down at any point of course ;)

I think there might have been a backlash against Pirates being given that station - or just people being 'playful'.

Honestly - I think we should be doing more of it - it's where the UA story is at right now.

At HIP 21285 A 1 right now, with a free floater 0.18ly from the planet, well within the span if it's ring system. It's definitely falling towards the planet, not in orbit around it. First time I've seen one this close to a planet, although it's probably also the first time I've tried.
