UA Mystery thread 4 - The Canonn

I asked this question before - no one answered.

This question WAS ANSWERED A MILLION TIME.
No one said it. It's not in this thread either. It was just something reported by someone that was said by someone from FD in some public FD event in the past. And some other mention from Kerrash in his live stramings. BUT IT WAS BEFORE WE DISCOVERED THE MORSE.
So, it was almost surely about that. But, MOST OF ALL, there is nothing official about that. Too many "something" and "someone", don't you think?

So please, forget about it.

'I found one at Atlas last night' ????
YES, I'm much more interested in THIS: Atlas?!?!?!
No UA is being found in Pleiades Nebula since 1.3, so if someone found an UA in Atlas we need more info on this please. It could be relevant...

I firmly believe we need to solve the station puzzle and then we will either get another clue to the mystery straight away or Frontier will unlock the next part of the story.

Palin is the dev way of communicating to when we get stuck.

Exactly.. its a way of advancing things. The plan all along has been clear what DB wants. Its just finding it and where it is commonly found...

It was just a SSS and I was alone not in the mood in my ASP to try and get it...

Another interesting tidbit for you - Asteroid fields are populated in Merope..

- My test (and others like it), and subsequent galnet article about the sales and CG proposal are somehow "inconvenient" for FD
- There actually is a bug in SQL reporting like Han's suggested; or
- UA's don't cause failures alone.

Another possibility is that stations have a certain capacity for handling UAs/hour before things break down. That would suggest only a massive flood of UAs in a very short timespan would be able to compromise a station. In the same way that in the BGS the supply of goods at stations are handled. During a CG, stations run out, normally they don't.

I also seem to remember that people were speculating about certain types of stations being more or less resilient against radiation. Did a quick search but can't find it though.

Yeah.. As much as I want to continue to be involved in this I can't help but get tired of the whole episode. Is this fun anymore? We have thousands of players scouring the galaxy with very little to go on and I can pretty much guarantee once said barnacles are found, there'll be yet another 'puzzle' to solve.

I'm bored of it. :( This whole thing smacks of the Mirage from FFE. I get the distinct impression we are all being led down the garden path.

Edit: I just don't believe there is much in the way of content re this presently in the game. At this rate, it will be TEN years before we see anything remotely interesting that represents ACTUAL gameplay. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Am I the only person here who finds this all extremely frustrating?

I've been asking this question of everyone who I see post the "content" complaint. Please don't take it as a dig, but what to your mind is "content" that is not currently present in the game. I'm genuinely curious. For me I see a 1:1 version of the galaxy that I can explore and that seems like plenty of content to me. I spend very little time in the human bubble, and if I want to shoot other ships I can play CQC now. So what for you would be "ACTUAL gameplay"?

CMDR, I don't want to seem rude, but, what we are doing here, since day one, is sharing our knowledge to try to crack the UA mystery.
Every information you find here, is being shared between many CMDRs and their effort on the mystery.
Even the informations that you are using for your personal "investigation" comes from this thread, and from the informations that we are sharing for a common effort.
I've personally decoded hours and hours of morse code for your amusement here.

We have Mr. Brookes already, popping here from time to time throwing cryptic hints like bones to dogs.

So, please, stop being cryptic yourself: if you want to participate, that's wonderful, would be nice to share your thoughts and findings with us.
You will be greatly credited for this, and remembered for years to come :D

Otherwise, well...

1) are you sure about the UA in Atlas?
2) We already know the Asteroids Belts in Merope are "populated". Is there some other thing we should know?
3) What you mean with "special equipment"? Mining?
4) You mentioned "your theory" but I did not understand it well.
5) You said something about what DB wants us to find: Can you be so kind to explain?

Thanks for your effort and contribution, CMDR.

OK CMDRs, I think we already have an indirect HINT about the Meta-Alloys location, and so the Barnacles.

I did a bit of research, and all the missions found so far, requiring to find Meta-Alloys, are spawning in a very ENCLOSED area of the bubble.
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=217293

Asellus Primus, Ovid, Dahan, LHS 215, Chias Vega, Ngalia. The first 3 systems are VERY CLOSE to each other, while the other three are a bit far away, but not that far from each other.
So, what I think is that the Barnacles are in the Bubble, on a Planet in an area between those systems. Check your map.
I'm heading back to the bubble, to concentrate my research there.

I'm asking the other CMDRs who found these missions, to post the system where they found them, please. To refine the area.

Right on, CMDRs.

Thank you!

I was in Atlas for most of yesterday searching the moons. Figured it was close enough to Merope and had a name people could type (unlike others which are generic like "PLEADES SECTOR EB-X C1-17"). Nothing to report, but hey, I'm just one person and only 8 hours of searching. I see that Ovid, Asellus Primus and Dahan are all quite close (thank you squiggsy - keep amassing those stations giving out the missions) so I'm departing from the Merope area to go there and search.

And Atlas...

He was getting 25% Silver...

Also, is it me or is there an abundance of Blue Class B Stars around Merope ? Compared to other areas ?

Quite honestly, if someone posts cryptic things about mysterious knowledge they claim to have, I view them the same way I view anyone else on the internet or in real life who tries to be cryptic and claiming to have mysterious knowledge: a faker who's simply trying to get attention. I don't see much point engaging with them.

Even if they're legit and actually have something, if they're not going to share it, they might as well have nothing, as far it helps us, so there's still no point in engaging.

Like you were alluding to; it's science here. You either publish your methods and your findings, or you're rightfully dismissed as random noise. Don't get me wrong, I think it's awesome that you're welcoming to all and everything, but I just fear you're wasting your time. :)

There are. Also of note Merope is (unless the very reliable wikipedia is lying to me) the brightest star in that region. I've been trying to come up with a compelling link between Class B stars and the UA's pointing toward Merope and all I can figure is its due to the brightness, very easy to find. If they are organic in nature they probably would rely on different means of mapping then we do, hence using a bright star for reference. *shrug* who knows? (Glares at the devs)

Gonna wait until I'm further along before I add more info because its all speculation at this point. I will admit if it is a failure though. It most likely will be but it will take time. The UA though.. no not 100% sure. Just a SSS which being out that far I would assume wouldn't be one of the regular ones?

DB just watch his sales pitches for the game and the gleam in his eyes when he talked about what is out there..

What Cosmos said up there about it being led down a garden - I agree. I think they added a bunch of stuff to buy them time to actually catch up and make more content. Once they are ready to unleash said new content they push things along with community goals. Its a slow process and nothing we find will solve anything.

The point is - there isn't really much to find.

Exactly its a known area for B class... I am thinking a lot of the mystery may revolve around these types of stars, nebulae and then possibly black holes.

The new life form that they'll unveil will most likely be evolved from a B type and feel most at home near them. Certain types of B's have more silicon in them..

"For supergiants, lines of silicon are used instead; the Si IV λ4089 and Si III λ4552 lines are indicative of early B." When life would be forming..

Silicon based lifeforms possibly?

"These stars tend to be found in their originating OB associations, which are associated with giant molecular clouds. " AKA Nebula

Hi Commanders,

I've done a fairly detailed scan of the thread and I have kitted out a Conda for exploring planets, I'm trying to pick up a Meta-Alloys Mission. So far no luck and just running some shelters until a mission pops up.

2 Questions that I cannot find answers for...

1. Do the missions show in the Surface Missions or Available missions or Both?
2. Does the galaxy map populate with a mission target icon when a mission is taken?

Many thanks, will feedback any useful info here, my first task is to collect a Meta-Alloys mission.

Thanks for joining us!

1. Only on Surface stations, so far.
2. No.

PS:
My replies are starting to look like MB ones... :D

Been wondering if the meta-alloys missions are required to trigger your ability to find them...

If you do get the mission - head directly to the Pleades.

But like others have said - there is zero evidence so far that this is in any way related to UA's.
