Those are old 1.3 UAs. No UAs has been found in the Pleiades after the release of 1.4.

Greetings Commanders
Regarding the 'Large barnacles' - having made a quick check through this mountainous thread I couldn't see this mentioned, so just wanted to throw it out there. My apologies if this has been covered already, but here goes:
What are barnacles? Wikipedia gives us this description - "Barnacles are encrusters, attaching themselves permanently to a hard substrate". Ok, cool.
What are Meta Alloys? Part of the in game commodities mkt description gives us this - "Meta-alloys have a complex lattice structure with large internal voids. They are cellular in nature, and formed organically." Formed organically eh... hmmm.
We also get this - "These appear to be common in certain parts of space..." Certain parts of space eh... hmmm.
Now we know FD created an amazingly complex (and as scientifically accurate as possible) stellar forge that is responsible for the seeding of systems, and now with the release of Horizons, planets to. These planets come in a whole host of sizes and shapes and, more interestingly, colours. The planets get their colour from the elements injected into them via the stellar forge. This can be seen in the image below showing different coloured mineral deposits at the surface.
So my hunch is that these 'Large Barnacles' are called barnacles for a reason and that the "certain parts of space" possibly corresponds to planets with a particular geological makeup and/or with certain physical attributes. If correct, we will find these barnacles 'growing' on the right planets, in the right places. Farmers will tell you that in order to grow something, you need the right conditions. We just need to figure out what those conditions are.
Anyway - just a thought![]()
But Gamma Velorum is locked in the Regor sector.
I know the mission says "planet" but could that mean the rings around a planet? What about pristine metal rings? Is this mission only available in Horizons? If it's available to non-Horizons players that would be a good indication that it's not on a planetary surface.
I dropped it a few times, but only recorded during the time it landed right-side up because it looked especially creepy, standing and rotating there.
Do we know for certain yet if there is a required exploration/trade rank for the meta-alloy mission to appear? I may have missed it if so (i do follow this thread fairly closely, as with the previous 3 but everything moves so quickly) but that could match up with your theory of it being a specific distance before they appear.
Are you still explaining?
And I thought I was patient...

I've spent so much time roaming in Merope that I need a change of scenery!, will keep posted if I have any luck!
talking about directions / up and down... did you notice that even if the ua aligns with merope the hud shows something different? if you align with the ua according to the hud its pointing somewhere else, right in front of the pleiades. i am testing this right now, so far 2 uas in opposite spots from the pleiades point somewhere right in front of the nebula. ross 374 is my mark atm. 3rd attemp will be from underneath at -300.

Trying Antares now, Antares B 3 is a 100% metal planet, 1.8g, and a little green sky.
Is Horizons trailer's landing at 0:25 already analyzed?
Why is that Cobra landing on planetary base about 1000-1500Ly away from bubble?
I rotated screenshot from trailer and tried to match nebulae and distant galaxies. Currently somewhat closest match is about 100Ly from Puppis Dark Region B for example COL 140 SECTOR IH-V D2-63.
Is that some future vision of research base like one in Pleiades, after we have found something special from there?
I also tried to get it to stand up for quite a while after seeing your footage and could not successfully get it to do so (posted the video quite a few pages back, but I'll relink it again) I attempted to use my SRV thrusters to drop the UA out of my cargo hold vertically, although I'm not entirely sure how the UA's come out of the cargo hold on their own.
Been doing some reading up on barnacles and found something that stood out to me.
Apparently barnacles have the ability to make noise: 0:09 sec in
