The fact the meme keeps getting repeated, coupled the most recent episode, means that there is some validity to it. I don't think these complaints should be dismissed outright. That would be, in my honest opinion, just as stupid as the recent rage quitting.
I don't think that issue is exactly as they(the rage quitters) say it is.
The issue is that the UA is the only story thread explorers get(I suppose the Antares wreck is one now too), and it's agonizingly slow paced(I'd rather that than blowing the lid off of everything Assassins Creed 2 style). But it is a concern none the less. And it literally feels like the whole story is looping back on itself with Meta-Alloys and Barnacles.
It was an exciting prospect, tracking down the original UAs. Now we have to do it all again, and it's just not as exciting as the first time.
As someone that has in the past felt a little frustrated as well, here's what I would say... We need to keep in mind the devs are obviously pouring a
ton of work on the game. Just look at the track record of their updates. Power Play, CQC, Planetary Landings, Community Goals, the SRV, planetside bases, Wings... Then look at all the other things that have already been announced, some of which we already have a sneak peek of...
If the game was fully finished then we would be fully justified in being upset. As it is, we don't know what's coming down the line, and we also don't know what's out there we haven't found yet. The way I play the game now is I keep an eye on the UA mystery, the Antares situation and a few other things like that which interest me. When I hit a dead end for a while I go do something else. Soon enough something new will pop up in Galnet or in the forums, or I'll get a moment of inspiration in the shower where I all of the sudden think "what if I try
this?". Then I come back and take another crack at the UA mystery.
That has been working really well for me. Perhaps it may not work for other people, but I suggest those frustrated think of changing their playstyle a little to something that doesn't keep them focused all the time in one tiny part of this massive game. Just go somewhere else, try something else, then come back when you are ready to give the UA, or whatever else, another go. I really like what the devs are doing in creating a game which in my mind that has no parallel out there, and I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for now. In the meantime... it's a big universe out there commanders!
Edit: because I pressed the wrong button too soon
