This looks suspiciously like the same thing to me: a database upgrade issue, rather than a 1.5/2.0 issue specifically (ie. not see during beta testing).

edit: yea, it looks broken again (following the recent update).

I'm on my way (generally) to the core on what I hope is my Elite run. I have seen all of the above, all sorts of weirdness. Some of it amusing and some of it downright annoying..

FD; Do whatever you need to do to fix this, but don't mess with my data I'll let you know when I'm back (lol)

Normally it looks like most other Systems (no blue ring).

As for Brian's Elite run my advice is don't worry about it just do whatever it takes.

I've only seen black versions of these & they all appear to be graphical artifacts associated with an underlying (or, in the middle) celestial object.
