Call of the wild - A list of pristine metallic rings

Hello, fellow miners!

I just found this thread by google search for "Pristine Metallic". I'm also interested in the subject, and since I didn't know about CMDR Ace Rimmer's tool, I made my own: http://edtools.ddns.net/. It has some of the systems I don't see in this thread. I'm still adding PrisMets to it, and trying to fill in the blanks, so help is appreciated.

I also made a simple distance calculator that supports multiple distances, as many as you want: http://edtools.ddns.net/dist.php.

Fly safe, and happy New year!

Cool :), although I'm puzzled by 1 thing, you list 14 I Orionis, but it comes up as being 98 LYs from HIP 25677, it's much nearer than that (it's nearer than Wolf 1458) ......

pleased to see the system i found a few weeks back isnt listed here, shows you can find them if you look hard enough without the aid of someone elses findings :)

With 400 billion possibilities in this game...I would sure hope you would be able to find a system not listed....
and if you don't want to utilize the "aid of someone elses findings"....by all means....don't look at the information provided.....

No probs, & cool :).
.
Still no sign of a pristine metallic ring nearer to the Uzumoxii/LTT11478 area than HIP 20441 (roughly 40 LYs), btw that HIP isn't on your database, nor is HR 1201.

We need a central database. Something anyone can edit.

I'm a programmer, and I can add the ability to edit to my existing list in reasonable time. But probably not anyone, but registered commanders? Publicly editable lists can produce unexpected results.

Maybe you are right about the ability to edit. You should talk to JRB and Ace Rimmer as well about the idea.

I don't know who JRB is and how to contact Ace Rimmer. By the way, if you have Ace Rimmer's contact, please mention that Eta Cephei he lists is a system with depleted reserves.

Hi guys, if you wish to reach me directly put a message in this forum thread or send a message directly (there's a "Private Messages" button at the top).

Gorrister, I was gonna ask you to take charge of the list because I was spending to much time farting around with the data when I just want to learn the technology. Perhaps we could keep the list here or on a new thread? what do you think? or maybe we could try and get it published in the Elite Dangerous Wiki. In addition I will publish it as a Web API.

Thanks, VicTic for spotting that problem with Eta Cephei, another reason to communitise the data and get it vetted.

Some of my systems do not have coordinates in any of the ED databases so I had to calculate them myself. I went down the triangulation path only to find that 1. It is not particularly accurate, and 2. (Doh!) It is easier just to read the coordinates off the galactic map in ED itself ;).

Hi, Ace.
I read the coordinates most of the times out of the galaxy map. It is accurate enough to get the distance. Does anyone know where EDSM gets the data in the first place?

Concerning your list: I think it would be a good idea to combine the different lists and and tools to one big sparkling pool of information. Maybe you and VicTic can put your heads together. I would be pleased to take charge of the list, but I'm afraid my knowledge ends with Excel. I think the most effizient way is to create a tool (or use an already created one) and let a selected members edit the data. We could create a community around it and put ourselves in the spotlight via galnet.
What do you think?
JRB by the way is the guy that created the spreadsheet and collected as well a big amount of precious data.

When I started this thread, I thought all inhabitate systems would be lower than pristine. The first one I found was close to Roons heaven. I thought "Wow! I found a gold seeker town". Not long before I discovered a bunch of similar systems. I would also like something extremely special far outside.
