E: D is a game you can take at your own pace. Hence it's good for most folk.
I only have a limited time to play, as I work full-time; so I'm not a student, or retired.
I've played numerous games since 1969 (started at work), including the original Elite (in 2 versions), and the 2 follow ups, Wing Commander, and follow ups, the whole X-BTF series, the whole Civilization series, Command and Conquer series, and very many others. I also played Wolfenstein (the original FPS) and finished it, and other FPSs, but am not as keen on them as some others.
So, I think I've played a little more than average (46 years gaming and counting, but the first few years were somewhat lean!)...
Elite (1984 original) was when games grew up. I've enjoyed all sorts of games in the past, and hope to in the future too.
Yes, I'm not a young gamer (was working in 1969, so go figure)... but I do have a wealth of gaming experience to draw upon, and there's very little I've not seen before.
So yes, I'm one of the older gamers here, but that doesn't mean I can't compete, or that I stick to solo or group (I'm not even a member of Mobius).
A game these days has to give me a challenge (still), which is why I play the Civ series, and why I like E: D (always did like space sims anyway). However, these games are what you make of them... do you play Civ on a setting you know you can beat, or one you're challenged by? Do you go to a RES and pick out the Elite Anaconda, or the Competent Adder, or something in between? It's always your choice, and neither is wrong, after all, it's your game.
