LMAO - brilliant, best laugh I have had all day :)

Kro

Thanks - very funny (and sadly true!) :)

Hi hi very good :):):)

I think that in next two years You will see Alpha in SC :)

Elite D governs !!! :D

Yeah, I do find Mack hilarious and have to say SC doesn't interest me at all. Maybe it's an Elite/Wing Commander thing - I never had any urge to play Wing Commander either. Just not my thing, oddly. All the hype and comms are a turn-off too.

Mac's Worth a Buy reviews are often hilarious.

Here is an example...

Warehouse and Logistics simulator

lol, I dare someone to post that on the SC forums and see what happens.

I don't want to do it but I definitely want to see it happen *twitches*

Some level headed perspective on being forced to pay for Alpha/Beta (/s)

"Anyone who paid 100 pounds to get into a beta should be taken to the fields and shot between the eyes. You are part of the problem... you're part of every problem."

This is nothing but a huge rant on the fact that they don't want to spend 100 pounds on a beta. Okay, fair enough, they don't have to. What they don't ever mention or touch upon is the simple fact that 100 pounds is not just a price for the beta, it's effectively a donation to help FD put more resources into making this game better. If they don't want to pay that fee of admission to play the game right now, then that's their call, but that video contains nothing but vitriol and ignorance, as well as some guys chuckling at each other's less-than-witty expletives.

How you came to call this level headed is a mystery to me.

Where's "it was Kickstarter tier" gets mentioned? Ohhh right, it doesn't. Because someone wanted to make a point how bad it is for devs to ask for money for the game they are making. If you don't want to pay for alpha/beta, *don't*. It's straight economics. ED isn't advertised on Steam or anywhere else (which is my main issue with Early Access games). It honestly says upfront how much it will cost. It also says what does it offer.

There's people that cut their own legs off.

...Mystery solved ;)

Also, because someone pays money for something someone else doesn't think is worth it is deserving of being shot in the head says a lot about their mentality. Ironically, the video shows footage of ESO - to which they probably paid $60 and will have a subscription of $15/mo for at least 6 months.

High course attitude from so called online gaming personalities? Nah man, that's unreal and surreal.

@Pecisk

I think that's the point - and they did allude to the fact that these fees were also Kickstarter pledges - so why not reward and encourage higher pledges with early access?

At the same time, having worked for many companies getting screwed with extortionate monthly licence fees for bespoke software that's perpetually in a pre-alpha state, and for which the learning curve is more concerned with working around the bugs than getting any useful work done - i totally hold these idiotic companies responsible for their own shaftings, and for having to use their crappy software all day. They all need to put their foot down and refuse to pay for anything not in a reasonable release state. Instead they're fueling their own roasting, rewarding incompetent lazy developers and encouraging their own fleecing...

At least with E: D we know the thing's gonna undergo full development eventually. But the problems caused by paying for unfinished software are very real, i deal with them every day and generally it IS something folks should be extremely skeptical about. I'm fairly confident however that E: D will be an exception to the general rule here...

Some level headed perspective on being forced to pay for Alpha/Beta (/s) <--- Looks like this was too subtle... I'm being sarcastic

Never heard of them before, but they have no clue that Elite is going pretty much alone without any publisher. Ah well, another site to ignore.

Total biscuit they are most certainly not, even if I don't agree with him all the time I find myself agreeing more times than not.

If the price is too much, just wait for retail.
