UAs, Barnacles & More Thread 5 - The Canonn

I think it's important to remember, we are most likely dealing with an alien race here. If they don't want to be found, you can be pretty sure they're going to make it hard to find them. But do they? It almost seems like they want us to find them, they're just SO alien the clues they've left us have gone way over our heads.

Maybe we need to start thinking like aliens.

What if the Barnacles have invaded Earth in the early 21st century and they created an elaborate simulation in which we've been living for 1300 years ?

What if the Barnacles have currently invaded Earth and created a game called Elite: Dangerous, created an entity called Barnacles and then made them so impossible to find everyone just assumes there can't possibly be any such thing as Alien Barnacles and gives up, thereby completing their covert infiltration of the human race.

Well, since you dont know where, that means you havent found one... So, it's either hacking, or you were told by a member of the dev team. There is no other explanation.

I think all you're saying is that you looked at the game files, which most of us already knew via the whole misspelling dirt-road.

If the dev team are leaking , it wouldnt be the first time a gmae developer has leaked to favoured groups or members of groups ( eve online cough)

If its hacking well i cant say its a good thing, but some others other than might argue that given Fdevs massively multiplayer grinding and lack of being able to create complex systems cough background sim, that speeding this thing up they could be in favour of.

I can't change when they spawn, lmao, so I will have to search like everyone else :^)

I'll probably use a Courier or a Clipper for searching though as they're the fastest ships, but apparently the clipper overheats if you turn it sharply?

I did look for them 32k Ly away, but this was before MB said that the Pleidas nebula would be a good place to start. Only thing worth mentioning 32k Ly away was a crashed nav beacon, but I put that down to RNG.

Haha, fair. I guess I was just suspect given how you seemed to be surprised nobody had found them yet AND didn't want to break immersion. The two together seemed to imply you understood the base mechanic of how and/or where they spawn :p

So, you don't really know anything more than the rest of us then.

Sigh.

It just doesn't seem to add up.

I mean even if we somehow got the Pleiades links there's something like 10 Earth sizes planets to cover, surely the chances of finding anything are astronomical.

UAs don't start spouting lat/longs when on a planet or something?

I think I've got space madness I was driving in merope 2c in a crater and I'm pretty sure I saw green lights 6 or 7 times but when I reached there it was just an illusion and there were only rocks and pure darkness , and now I've stopped playing to take a break and now I'm having a mental breakdown ( it's partly because of barnacles so don't judge me ) .
Where are they ? Why are they impossible to find ?!!!! :(

First, been following the search for awhile now. Participating myself after I got back from an exploration trip, nothing found so far. Someone mentioned sounds on the system map, I went and had a look but I noticed there are these dark "lines" orbiting the planets in planet / surface view. Googled it to see if it was a known thing but didn't find anything, so thought I'd mention it. There appear to be dots or blips on the lines as well, might have to crank up your gamma and zoom the map out abit but they are there. Might just be for viewing pleasure but.... again just mentioning.

And hello! :)

Comments like Fendalton's make me worry some people are doing peeky-peeky game code-read-y.

Well, if so, then he's got a day to find them in the same way that MB did (or one of his team, anyway) when he said he'd verify if they could be found or not.

If a hacker successfully managed to decode the necessary binaries, assuming those files had all the logic/parameters required stored within, then said hacker would have everything they needed to find them - no halfway houses.

Otherwise it's just another hunch to add to the pile.

If it's a hunch that leads to a discovery, that's shared and can be replicated, then respect will duly be given by all I expect. If it's done by hackery then said hacker will only have their self-respect to rely upon, against a barrage of discontent (euphemism there ;) )

Personally, I doubt there are any successful haxxorz here. If there were, then they'd have posted here by now with images of their found Barnacle/Alien POI.

Yeah that's how I feel.

While I'm not giving up and don't want more clues it does feel a bit strange. Nebulas are massive places. Planets are massive places.

Unless they spawn at POIs like normal stuff, but very rarely, or only on certain worlds, then I have no idea how we are going to find this. *Unless* FD's plan for this really is simply to just wait until we have combed the area of 10 Earth-sized worlds.

I'm also wondering of Kerrash's comment about looking from OC is just a suggestion or if he (sneaky sneaky) knows something that we don't about what to look out for. Perhaps there is something very obvious from OC that we can see but I'm flummoxed as to what it is.

All this way out from the bubble and I'm finding as many little factory settlements as on Mercury. The Pleides is as populated as rural England. It's swarming with US, not Barnacles haha

yes I agree but let me rephrase that : there are about 20 or 30 planets in this region that must be investigated inch by inch so yeaaaaaaa ... Oh and they are 1:1 scale :( .... I'm telling you I must be getting space madness :(
somebody help !

a friendly reminder. Your contrails often appear as green pufs of UA like cloud or smoke. Im sure many of you have encountered this, but i have nearly soiled my self several times, and thought it might be worth a reminder.

Can someone confirm if the sounds in the video are just ambient sounds?
Landed ship, everything possible shut down.
