Worth buying now?

To me a brand New game Retail is 60£.

So if i spend 80+£ for a Lifetime of expansion passes its a no brainer. (my recomendation)

Anything above that is just cause i can afford it and i know all the money i spent go directly to the dev's instead of it go to middle men who have no clue what this game means to us backers.

I dont regret for a sec to have spent all the Money i have, 200£ on kickstarter page, 150£ hotas joystick, 1000£ New grafix card 27 inch screen. prolly up to 300 for the OR kit when it go Retail. ??? on the online store for even more fluff.

All this is Worth the buy for ME, As a avid forum member i have no regrets , just make sure you dont have any either, how much that ammount up to is YOUR Choice.

Very true, it is all about value to the individual. Holy **** though, £1000 for a Gfx card, might have been overkill?

I shudder to think how much money Elite has cost me :D

But so far it's been worth every penny! Alpha has been so impressive the GF has now upgraded her backing level and invested in a HOTAS, and we're now looking at getting her a new laptop to enjoy it on :)

Simply put, even at alpha, this game oozes grandness and puts many releases to shame.

Keep up the good work FD!

grafix card + 27 inch screen + home delivery + work to find out what was wrong whit my previous card is all included in the 10k cost.

Pre-Order Elite Dangerous

Yes, buy now. And take also the expansion pack. you will make a good deal. And in addition you will be accounted among the backers

I have pre-ordered Elite Dangerous for £35.00, how do I proceed to get accounted among the backers?

But I grew up on the original Elite and have been waiting for this game for a seriously long time. I'm the first to give Frontier a hard time when I think they are doing something wrong but despite initial teething troubles they have done a wonderful job of communicating and engaging with us all. It might sound trite but I feel like I am a part of something special.

This is exactly how I feel :)

My interest is not playing the game now, i.e. Alpha. I am willing to wait for the final game that is why I pre-ordered. Isn't a pre-order in a way similar to a backer?

I think, but may be wrong, that the "backer" status (whatever that may mean) ended for new subscriptions with the demise of the backers' app in December last.

Anyone buying from the new store won't get access to the private backers forum for example so not quite backers I suppose.

From the current shop, if you pre-order just the standard game, it says:
Pre-order Elite: Dangerous to have a download of the game available as soon as its released! Elite: Dangerous will be available once the Standard Beta phase is completed.

So it looks like you'll be in the 'Gamma' phase, right after Beta.

It might be worth emailing SUPPORT for clarification.

Many lower-level backers don't have access to the PBF either - min £75 for that.
They all get the electronic decal though, which allows access to the Founders' World.

Random question, and apologies if it's been answered elsewhere, but does purchasing one of the betas provide you with the same benefits as those who bought through Kickstarter for the same price? For example, the Premium Beta is £100, and obviously that gives you beta access. But if you purchased Premium Beta during the Kickstarter process, you also get (I believe) extra credits when starting, various starting scenarios, your name used for NPCs, Pirate start, digital music, digital novel, premium boxed version of the game, and more?

On the expansions thing, from the Kickstarter:
Will I have to pay for updates, or expansions, or new content?

Some new features and content will be paid for, especially those that build significantly on the game. If you have pledged to £90 tier or higher then any expansions or updates are free.

That seems fairly wriggle-proof.
