Thx for sharing. Which factions are in the system you got the mission in. Which one offered it initially, and which one the mission branch?
Wondering what the severe consequence would be?
Hope to get this mission too. One day ...

You're welcome.
Defence party of thera indi for the initial quest / Mission branched unknown (only local securty use as name, working for federation as it is a federation system) /

If i get it again, i'll try to wait for the consequences ;)

Are we, the community, making an effort to cure the other stations by dropping off Meta Alloys at stations that have either shut down or are experiencing problems? If so, which station(s) are being targeted?

The Canonn has put out a request for meta alloys at bond hub in varati to see if we can cure it. That's the only one I've seen though.

All the issued ones: see the Front Page.
Stations that are already shut down cannot be cured directly, so far, having their markets shut down as well.

They will need an action from FD, in the form of a CG, I suspect.

Bond Hub in Varati, is under the Canonn faction, so that's a good place to start ;)

I'll be heading out toward Barnard's Loop starting sometime tonight. I already have one member of my group there. I don't know what to look for really, if there is anything to actually find there. But the markings on the central barnacle structures must mean something. In any case, I've been hankering to get back out into the black, and this is a perfect excuse to do so :D

Fly safe and hope to see some of you out there.

I thought I hit the jackpot when I found a 100% metal planet in Witch's Head, but I guess not.

I've been bouncing around a few of these in orion. I'd suspect that as far as RND criteria go for having barnacles, these would have fulfilled them.

About 1Mm on the SRV so far with no luck

Alright, CMDRS, I'm out in Orion right now, anybody else out here and if so, have you visited the T orionis system? It looks to be a nice candidate system

I have. Pretty nice planets to land on. all pretty hot except for the last y-class moons

Those "Strange Alloys" missions - how many meta-alloys do they ask you to deliver. I have some stashed away but now I am nowhere close to Merope. Returning back to the bubble after futile search for anything unusual in Bernard's Loop.

went to merope 5c to find..... an automatic mining facility, bloomin marvellous, didn't mess about did they!

ah well, was my first planet landing and go in an SRV which with a joystick feels alien at least

Take it no luck, how many planets have you explored so far in the system?

I've explored quite a bit 1, 2, 3, 3 b, 3 c, 4 a so far, headed to the small 9 C A now.

The two moos, 3b and 3c are pretty cool and completely lumpy with super low g. You can basically drive/jet right up the sheer walls of the canyons they have - significantly high canyons.

<Tinfoil to maximum>

Looking at the galaxy map, I've just noticed that the 3 systems where barnacles have been found appear to be in almost a straight line... carrying on that line from Merope, Pleione and PLEIADES SECTOR JC-U B3-2, it looks like it leads to Taurus Dark Region. I know this is probably a complete coincidence, but I think I'm going to check out the stars surrounding it. Just posting in case anyone else wanted to check up on this too, or if anyone is already there looking and has any further info (yes, I'm aware there are no stars actually within the nebula, but hey..)

I've only went to peek at a canyon while in ship on one moon. there are dozens of systems with planets in Orion. And as I said on the other thread. Maybe it's not a good idea to spend countless hours on these planets without more clues. Maybe there's another shell of UAs somewhere or human activity, or maybe everything related to the Barnacles are in the Pleiades, I don't know.

I regret not going to a certain star. I became curious about Epsilon Orionis, it's the only star of the Orion constelation that is very far away (I'm at Alnitak now, also loads of planets. Mintaka also seems to have nice landable planets), but in Epsilon Orionis is the only Orion star where you can see the Barnards Loop from behind, in the same orientation of the logo (just not with the lower triangle)

Another theory is that somehwere there's a region where you can see the barnard's loop with orion in the center and witch head below, making the little triangle, but that may be too much tinfoilery =)

For those looking for barnacles elsewhere but haven't visited the ones we've found I've put together an album of the 3 that are close to each other on JC-U b3-2 2.

Shows them from various heights so you know what to look for, and the scanner reading when you find one in your SRV. One shot has two visible on the same screen from height.

Hope it helps you all figure out how to spot the damn things!

Only one. They are away from merope, those mission, one near facece for exemple at theta indi but really rare.

Thanks! I only took a brief look on the one on Merope 5C when lifting off, it was visible to 3-4km (hardly), but it depends a lot on the terrain how easy/difficult they are to spot. If its plain and smooth, then its probably easy to spot, but on rough terrain they can be very hard to see.

Currently looking for them from other Nebulae. Like many others, I headed to Orion / Running Man / Barnard's Loop. I found very promising planets but so far I have spot none. Since the things are organic, I suppose the temperature needs to be somewhere around 200-350 K or so...
