Kickstarter pledge £90
Upgrade to Alpha £115
Saitek X52 £90
Brand new top'o'the line iMac 27 circa £2000.00(!)

Please tell me I'm not the only one? The most amazing thing is that I've spent all this wonga with my wifes blessing!

Didn't need a new rig, but that aside, this is me. :D

However, I spent the money with the full awareness that the game may never see the light of day. Certainly hope it does though!

In prep for this game I'm slowly upgrading my hardware over a period of months...

Purchased for this game EVGA GTX780 Classified and Samsung Evo 750GB SSD

I feel I'm at a point where it is sufficient to play to a decent level... might double the system ram though to 32GB

Will have to see how it plays before any more major purchases... and holding off on HOTAS setup too

IMO 16GB of RAM is more than enough. 32GB is overkill.
8GB currently is still more than enough for gaming, unless you're doing funky stuff like RAM disks or have 60 applications open at once then another 16BG RAM is not really worth it IMO.
You may as well stick with what you've got till 16GB is no longer enough and then upgrade. By the time we get there RAM technology will probably have advanced and you'll be able to buy better/Faster RAM when upgrading.

Just my tuppence worth though, it's your money ;)

IMO the best upgrades for E: D (considering you've already got a decent GPU and a SSD, I'm assuming your CPU is up to snuff) would be either an Oculus rift DK2 (I've got one on order) and/or a 1440p screen.

I bought this recently as it's been the best upgrade I've made in a long time (even over an SSD which are cool but just make things load faster while a 1440p screen makes everything (nearly, some games don't go above 1080p (boo hiss)) look amazing)

Totally. I have 8GB, and I'm still not even hitting 70% utilisation with FD running and a ton of other apps open in the background.

I'm sure most of you use your PC's for stuff other than E: D?
I certainly do.
E: D was what pushed me back into PC gaming after a hiatus just playing consoles (just because my real life friends had them really) so it was the catalyst for me getting a new PC.
Probably spent a couple of grand on hardware + Desk & chair etc...
I've probably spent another grand on software since I build it last March :)
Gaming is my hobby though.

£300 for DDF and £25 for an XBox controller is what I've spent so far.

Can't count the Oculus Rift as A) I'd have bought it anyway and B) I've sold it in preparation for DK2! :D

I'll be building a new rig when Oculus CV1 comes out and I'll probably budget £1500 - £2000 on that depending on what CV1 needs to run at it's best settings. Again, that's not entirely down to ED but definitely heavily related.

OK, this is the one place I'll reveal my splurge :p! In my defense, I did it before it crossed the line to be funded

-- Planet / Launch party (will need to fly from US, but having a 2 week holiday visiting family as well)
-- Model Cobra Mk III
-- Signed Ship chart
-- Mug
-- Decals
-- Maybe something else...

My pledge WAS 1337 until I realised I had to bump it to 1340 to account for shipping :p

-- Elite Survivor

-- Boz's Book

-- Lave Revolution

-- Fantastic books hardback box set and gloves

-- Mostly Harmless

-- Tales from the frontier Name a Character

-- New PC

-- So, somewhere in the region of 2500 GBP for me

This is great an' all, but pleeeease, what's the secret? LOL :D

Let me guess....she gets the house extension she wanted? :D so actually it's what, £2000 + £35K??

Seriously though, that is some serious cash to splash.

I keep my PC pretty much top notch most of the time anyway. So far this has cost me £200 for alpha, £280 for the Oculus Rift, and maybe another £170 for a HOTAS (If I go that route).

My hobby is gaming so like Kingston and Bobby, my PC is easily upto the task of running E: D on max settings although I have got myself a larger 120Gb SSD over the original 60Gb one I'd built it with.

Kickstarted to Founder, then upgraded to Alpha: £200
Track IR: £140
Thrustmaster j/stick: £40 (although will be upgrading soon to the X52 Pro)

Well all I've spent is £144. That's £100 on the Premium Beta which should be here within the next month to 6 weeks I think and £44 on a Fly 5 flight stick because I wasn't prepared to pay the asking price for an X52 pro even if they are very popular. The only other thing I was considering upgrading was my graphics card because I didn't think that my old Radeon HD 6670 would be able to handle the game all that well. However, I saw a post from someone else saying they had a 5000 series card (cant remember the exact model) so I might wait until I get my hands on the beta before making any decision on that.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
I really don't want to know! :) I've spent a ton on ED and SC over the past year/year and a half. At least with SC my ship sales have offset my initial outlay. Not so much here, lol.

Well, I was due for a new PC anyway. I splurged months ago when the SC dogfighting module was due at the end of the year. Hopefully it'll still be up to snuff, heh heh.

All worth it, though. I've had tons of fun with both games and they're not even at v 1.0 yet.

That £2000 iMac have nothing to do with Elite Dangerous. It is wholeheartedly your own upgrade!.

Elite will be better than good, it will be great and I can see within it playability glory!. :D

I do regret not getting the money together for a planet :( I'll just have to live with my station.

Still between books, game and Dan... the wife had better never find out.
