I tell ya, this game had better be good...

I saved over 1100 compared to OP, while still getting a kickass setup and a premium beta.

'Cause I bought a PC, and not a Mac.

(just for reference, 800€ PC, 120€ monitor, 30€ joystick, 80€ panel, 120€ premium beta. Total, 1120€)

Bet your 120 Euro monitor isnt colour calibrated to Adobe standard though...

:p

I guess not, I bought my rig for playing, and I'm not planning on doing anything that requires Adobe standard. It's just a TV, to be honest.

It's pretty huge tho, so that's fine by me :p

I'd invest in a Kensington lock or two before some tea-leaf scumbag nicks it through your window ;)

I bought 20 cheap ones from china, all with separate keys, for about $5 shipped.

Premium Beta £100
New Pc £2500
New 1440 Monitor £500
Mechanical Keyboard £70
mouse £50
X52 Pro £110
new table to put it on £100

And worth every penny so far.

I hadn't really thought about it but £100 for Premium Beta, £360 for a 4Gb GTX770 and £140 to upgrade to the TiR 5. I kept the water cooled i5 2500 as that jogs along happily at 4.2 Ghz and I can't see the point of going any further than the 16 Gb of ram it's already got.

All with ED in mind but compared to messing about with old cars it is still a drop in the ocean.

Haha, thanks for the concern, but if they manage to get into the courtyard, scale 4 floors of bare wall and get it down without shattering it on the ground they have definitely earned it :D.

Almost the same here - I can't help myself with this game - £300 GTX770 for downsampling, £169 for an X-55 on backorder. I will be dipping again for a Rift, at the moment I'm trying to work out how to get that one past the missus :p

omg...
playseat 390e
x55+rudder pedals 300e
trackir 140e

no new rig for next 3-5 years due to the numbers above, but there is no real need to upgrade now as in 5 years you can get 4k monitor and GPU that can run ED on it for reasonable price (silly me hopes that :)

I've spent a lot more on SC than E: D

I upgraded my computer in November which cost a grand but in no way would I say that was 'because of a game'. I was due an upgrade, my i7-860 was getting 'old'. I always use good components and I went with a mini-itx rig.

I've spent an enormous amount on Elite Dangerous so far totalling all of £35. And thats all I am planning to spend, the rest of you lot must be bonkers spending that much on one game [however I do require a very good computer for my line of 'work' so I dont need to upgrade it for my games].

As for my Joystick my old faithful MS Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 will no doubt suit me just fine - its the best joystick I've ever had and I dont ever want to lose it.

I don't think I will be buying a Rift or any other daft piece of headgear, I just think they look flipping stupid, and I couldnt possibly expect my family to take me seriously if I wore something like that. I think that really is just going a tad too far for this computer gaming lark personally. I use a joystick and that looks geeky enough, there is no way I could ever be seen wearing computer headgear. And I certainly wouldnt want my kids to think that it is somehow acceptable to go around with a TV fixed to your head.

So there

I could probably do with a cable tie at some point mind, when the money allows.

Same here. Would probably have spent more on EliteD too though had they offered starting ships other than just the one...

Me too, now that I've tasted the pudding. Although I'd rather it be cosmetic/custom items as opposed to ships.

If I was FD I'd open up items now, now that we've had a taste of the game, as long as it doesn't interfere with game production. I'd love to contribute some more in exchange for things that don't impact gameplay.

I give you five years

that's not true about 1 starter ship choice, according to what we pledged for and assuming that is not changed then you can start with Cobra or Eagle:

Explorer: Have the option to start on the edge of explored space with a long range version of the Cobra Mk III and 3,000 CR (randomised system choice for multiplayer reasons).
Independent Trader: Have the option to start in the Lave system with a basic Cobra Mk III and only 100 CR.
Pirate: Have the option to start in an anarchic Frontier system with a stolen but upgraded Cobra Mk III and only 100 CR (randomised system choice for multiplayer reasons).
Federal Trader: Have the option to start in a Federal border system with a basic Cobra Mk III loaded with cargo worth 1,000 CR and 1,000 CR in cash (randomised system choice for multiplayer reasons).
Imperial Bounty Hunter: Have the option to start in an Imperial Colony with an Imperial Eagle Mk II Fighter with upgraded weapons and shields and 1,000 CR (randomised start system choice for multiplayer reasons).

FD just not forces you to BUY ships at any cost to be competitive from the very beginning.
