It seems I coul be more old than an Elder god then...

If You keep talking like that I'm gonna actually believe you're a thargoid

Ok have you guys realized something about the malfunctions ?
A: that varati is also in the list so the UA is absolutely involved
B : it's funny because none of the settlements have been infected just space stations .
maybe because nobody sold UAs there but still very suspicious

Not caught up with the thread yet, so dont shoot me down but:

Has anyone tried shooting each of the symbols on the barnacles with the srv in turret view and hitting the blob in the middle as a bullseye.

May have to thrust up to get a good angle at it. Cant try it myself , heading to the loop.

(hangs head in shame for asking the have you tried shooting it question)

Do any settlements have Black markets?

PS Bond Hub in Varati was one of the first stations to get problems.

I'm out in Sadr and just visited all the systems that use to have a permit. First I'd say 70% of them are stars only which seems very strange, why would they be permit systems. Of the others, only one had a lot of land-able planets/moons the rest had 4-6, very few in that temp range though. I scouted around on some of them found nothing, at times literally nothing. I would deploy the SRV and there would be nothing at all on the scanner which seems kind of odd also.

There is just so much land to cover it's astronomical, either we are missing a clue or FD simply hasn't gone any father on this story line at the moment, at least those are my guesses. I'm going to head over to the Pelican and North American Nebula since I haven't been there anyhow and look around. If anyone has a list of previous permit systems there, that would be great!

Couple shots

AHAH!
There are people who cannot see Barnacles and people who can see too many of them in the same instance :D

Let me explain:
In Pleiades Sector JC-U B3-2 Planet 2, I found two Barnacles, very close to each other (you could see one from the other, very nice view!), but here is the funny thing:
it seems both of them have spawn THREE times, one on top of the other.

I mean, shooting one of the "spikes" it got destroyed, but another spike was there, under it, so I shot it again and another one was there. Every spike could be destroyed three times in a row.
I was able to get 6 Meta Alloys for each of the two Barnacles, for a total of 12 in a single spawn.
Not to mention the hundred of materials that came out...

That is very strange, have you filed a bug report?

Dear CMDRs,

After a week-long search for the proverbial needle in a very big haystack (poking around Pleiades, Bernar's Loop, Orion, following the leads in this and other threads etc.) I finally gave up, went back home and cashed in a pretty fat cheque.
I think it's time we get more clues before we can proceed.

Of course I immensely enjoyed social fun at Merope, some nice planetary sights but for now Ill hang my explorer's cloak and observe the developments from the bubble and try to hunt down the elusive Meta-Alloy mission.

Sir Michael Brookes, I believe that is your cue... ;)

Our fearless leader, soon to be banned for exploiting!

It would be great to know how rare "exceedingly rare" is.

Still exploring the system in the Spirograph Nebula. Quite a few planets and moons to land on. But nothing of substance yet. Just a bunch of gold, tea, narcotics, and weapons... Odd you could still find such things in abundance so far from human space. Should pay off nicely when I get back to a station.

Excellent work and just what I needed, having never been to the original sites.

My hope is that this will speed up the process of finding alien objects in the future and maybe spur FD into coming up with some more interesting stuff to find on planets (with different wave scanner audio to go with it). Part of the fun for me is when I hear something on the wave scanner that I haven't heard before and then wondering at what it might be.

Are UA's known to self-destruct? I had mine targeted and was taking some pictures and checking out it's alignment, accidently deployed weapons (but not fired) and 'poof' UA exploded.
