I can confirm reports of the missing content... after a couple hours in solo zooming around in the buggy back and forth across the coordinates for both Anaconda wreck & barnacles (and smashing my ship into a mountain for 75% hull damage - ouch!) I logged to the main menu & tried Private Groups - no go. Then popped into open & I was literally right next to it (at least not on top of it).
This was pretty discouraging - I usually give FD some leeway in stuff, but this was a joy- and game-breaker. Particularly having avidly followed this thread and the research & out to see my first barnacle; having found the Anaconda, I had to log for the nightmaybe tomorrow.
I wonder if this issue may be related in some way to system configuration. I've seen multiple reports of known Barnacle and Fixed POI sites not spawning for people outside of Open, but I've been playing in solo and private groups to avoid the pvpers (running low on funds at the moment), and I haven't had any issues with the known POI's not spawning for me. In my experience, if an issue effects certain people and not others, chances are it has to do with system configuration. It's a little odd that this would be such a situation - you wouldn't think differences in hardware or software setup could be responsible for sites not spawning, but this is procedural content we're talking about - so anything is possible when it comes to glitches.

Do any of you guys see progress on the Meta Alloys CG? I accepted it out of curiosity to track its progress (I don't believe in shooting things which I know little about), but I don't see any progress on the bars, only an amount in tonnes. Is this because I am not actually participating, or do you see no progress on the bar as well?
It's moving very slowly - there's a little sliver of a bar at the bottom as opposed to when it started when there was nothing. I get the feeling in order to get that bar to grow, we're going to have to commit xenogenocide on these organic structures. I'm not sure I'm comfortable with that. Generally speaking, murderous rampages don't go over too well in diplomacy. I guess we'll see.
