Yeah I can see how that would be dangerous for your ships health on high g planets:) If you put it to severarl analouge controls then even if one or 2 got reversed you might still be going up?^^

My conda with 6d thruster hover with no problem at all on the 9.77 planet:) Since the thrusters counter the gravity if they can I dont think there is a planet where you can manually hover but the fa on cant? havent tested this since I havent found a "perfect" g planet wich is immensly hard.
to clearify: with HOVER I mean hands of controles and let FA do it on its own..

ofc tapping the up thrusters can make you hover on even a 20g planet with as the game physics a low for that.

I was one of them, but streaming during work hours isn't going to get many views. Was fun for what I watched! Enjoyed the finnish accent.

Also, twitch has archiving, enable it and your streams will be available to share and watch

Suspect ranking mission for ranking up with finnish wife were at play here...

Could I make a request here? (Posting here, since this is a large group of explorers who won't be docking anywhere for a while!)

Could I ask that you keep an eye on your Explorer rank - assuming you're not already Elite. This now increases based on distance driven in the SRV and materials collected. If any of you see your rank tick up by a percentage, would you mind taking a screenshot of your explorer statistics and posting it. Ideally, if it ticks upwards again, send on another screenshot of those stats.

Since you won't have sold any exploration data in the meantime, we can tell "Explorer Rank went from Pioneer 20% to 21% by driving X km and by collecting Y materials". That'll help build up a picture of how these contribute to exploration rank.

Thanks a lot! :)

If you lost the SRV due to the spontaneous SRV combustion bug, support will offer to send you to a station of your choosing to restock, then send you back to your original location when done.

That sounds like an overly complicated way to do it, compared to them just adding the srv back. Must be something strange about the way saves are stored on ED servers.

From my experience so far... for every 500km you drive in the SRV it goes up 1%. For every 2 new/undiscovered materials you discover is goes up 1%.
I'm currently 4% pioneer, started DW at 99% Ranger. Will keep an eye out for changes :)

FA can hover as well as manually, the only difference is that you can get to a slightly higher maximum velocity with FA off.
FA on, max vertical thrust up stops my vertical velocity at about 134 m/s. FA off it goes up to 173. (Dangerous, if you can't remain perfectly level you'll die)

Tapping the up thrusters at 9.77g usually ends in tears. FA can hover, yet it's slow to respond and easily over corrects when halting your upwards motion. The main problem of tapping down for even the shortest duration while hovering is that it completely cuts the bottom thrust, which gives you a momentary 95 m/s2 downwards acceleration. The same for releasing or tapping the up thrusters, results in on/off behaviour and that 9.7g pulling you down at 95 m/s2. You need very fine continuous analog control if you want to hover manually. 9.77g is no joke. Turn FA off while hovering, 5 seconds until your reach 500 m/s downwards, 100 seconds to stop again 25km further down.

There you go then! What's all the fuss about?

Just turn FA off for 5 seconds, 25001 metres up!

Done! :)

I may know another CMDR that may be along for the ride, who may comply with your request if so ordered. I'll order him straight away.

Ok, you can start to toss stones at me, I'm shielded.

THERE WILL BE NO MORE REFERENCE SYSTEMS GIVEN IN ADVANCE.
WHEN ERIMUS WILL ANNOUNCE NEXT WP PRECISE LOCATION, THAT WILL BECOME THE REFERENCE SYSTEM.
FOR EVERYBODY THAT WANTS TO GO AHEAD, THE FLEET DISENCOURAGES THAT.

So for example if you want to know where to prospect for WP06, you have to wait Erimus announcement.
OFC the same goes here, in Trello and for Spreadsheet.

The decision came from the need to keep the fleet together in later stages of the expedition where it will be more difficult. Also some WP are around a specific system, there are not fancy nebulae everywhere, and I bet that you wouldn't like to have every area around every poi already tagged to the bone by non-expedition snipers that use cheats to make 100LY jump, go there, tag everything, and cheat their way back to the bubble.

Everybody that wants to go ahead it's on her own, they can guess where to prospect, but there will be no list to put data too.

If you are unhappy with this decision bash me and not Erimus please, he is already busy with many other stuff to the point his mail box gets filled every day.

I've now driven 550km since setting of from Founders World and no change to my exploration rank. I'm currently about 15k ly out.

I could be wrong :) I know mine seemed to go up as I ticked over 500km, and again around the 1000km mark. Although I wasn't paying close attention so there may be other factors.

Many thanks. So 1% of of Ranger and 4% of Pioneer just from driving/materials? Impressive.

I don't think it's going to be a constant distance, MB said the exploration benefit with SRV driving scales with distance from Sol. So by the time you reach Beagle Point... it'll be interesting to see how much it changes. :) There's also a small rank increase for every material you "re-collect".

Yes ofc Im am doing no manual input when hovering its all FA:) and like I said my conda hovered just fine there by it self:) Tapping the up thrusters is worse then not doing it! it will try to auto corect if you gain any upwards momentum while doing that. And if it does auto corect you will start falling fast!

I was wondering why my rank went from 0 % to 1 % during this trip. Unfortunately I don't know how many km's in the SRV that was, somewhere in the neighborhood of 500 km and ~300 materials.

Well that was fun. That was my first ever livestream with english commentary, never done that before. Even had 4 viewers at the best. :D
Too bad Shadowplay cant livestream and record at the same time so i cant upload it to Youtube.. (or if it can, i dont know about it)

Probably will do another livestream in few hours. :)
I watched too, even though I am not in the Distant Worlds "project" I do like it, and if you want I can help you setup OBS so you can record and stream at the same time :D
