Well to help with that, some of us have been searching out for candidates planets... Spreadsheet on the front page. It should cut down the number of hours spent hunting.

Oh I was out already scouting out potential planets, found a couple of good ones in another reflection nebula. However once MB said they had spotted the spawning error and were going to fix it, I decided to come back for the Turbo Hour race until the fix was out. It has come sooner than I expected :D

Last week's dev update:

Engineers are individuals who provide the blueprints (which describe the materials and items needed for a specific modification) and can then apply them to the weapon or module. They are characters with their own back story, preferences and specialisations. Initially we’re looking at around 30 engineers dotted throughout human space and we will be able to add more in future updates.

They're dotted throughout space, so they're not on your bridge. Also, there are only 30 of them, which would mean that only 30 pilots can have one on their bridge.

It's not going to sound much better, but isn't engineer a role in multi crew?

No. Avgroenik is right: they will be located in some specific forgotten outposts, on planet surfaces, doing their dirty work.
Multicrew is another thing, and will work only with human players, not AI for now: so a specific Multiplayer feature.
The other incoming feature, Small fighters you will be able to launch, on the contrary, will be both AI and player controlled.

If someone run into one another of these ships, perhaps a cargo scan can reveal something....?

I'm carrying a cargo scanner for that exact same reason. Also a Frame shift scanner and fuel limpets - the last just to maximize potential interaction possibilities - if another DBX is asking for fuel id recommend scanning it first.
Did patrol Maia last night looking mainly for distress signals but also signal sources, no luck there (4ish hrs of search). Now off to Alioth to see if i have more luck there.

They didn't ask for fuel, he just gave them some anyway :)

Well, it's cheap, innit? Those big shiny things give it away for free :D

But thanks for clarifying, hmm, i was priortizing distress calls, might that be not the most effective way of finding those mysterious ships?

Well AA did say that it was a distress call, but like I said earlier he said that it didn't make any communication with him, scanned him, and then after giving it some fuel it sped off.

I did point out to him that maybe it means he'll be the first to be assimilated :D

Thanks again. Well, that at least gives us a clue on a difference between the usual 'stranded without fuel NPC's' and 'special' ones, usually there is a plea for help quite soon after you entered a distress call, no comms would mean something fishy is going on. Even pirates do tell you that they want some of your fridge's content quite soon after you popped in.

Dr Arc, giving his thoughts from his underground bunker(!), has been published in Sol, Achenar and Alioth for those who want to read ;)

It's also on our site - it's the most recent news article listed in the 'news and events' section.

It's kind of funny that they're asking about the next instalment in the 'death threats' storyline. As if we're meant to suggest likely suspects perhaps?

I've been searching for any INRA lore to see if there's any kind of "Section 6" or any naming convention that matches the ship designation; not finding much. Damned secretive organisations.

Yup, he didn't have a scanner on him though, so that's definitely a big priority I reckon. Do you have an Allioth permit by any chance? As I don't.

If Chloe Anders is right and the strange vessels are looking for something, we should try to give it things.
If you find one, please try to call for backup with 'gifts' of UAs and meta alloys.

Gahhhh!
I fear my hunt for UA shells around other Nebulae needs to be curtailed until I am further away from the Core.
Just got to 200ly from "the center" of GREAE PHIO and switched to Economical as normal.
Number of jumps went to 135 ! I only need to spend 5 mins in 50 or so of them, but I am afraid my interest gland would be drained beyond refilling.

Finally got within striking distance of my nebula last night... Will do that as well tonight.. Thankfully I'm on the edge ...should be a little easier :)

Yes i do, i got a bit delayed though. There's a system (COL 285 Sector lc-t b4-4) on the way from Maia back to Alitoh that spawns signal sites, so i'm still waiting to see if there's maybe UA to be found. On to Alioth after.

I think the only "gift" these guys want is of the Palin variety ;)
