Hey guys, girls, and extraterrestrial lifeforms, I'll be gone for a week, so if I win (an odd smiley with a red hat can dream, right?), the topic shall be…
Actually, you know what? I'll just PM dear ol' Frank.

Welcome to another week of Abraka Drabble, the weekly drabble competition where we invite you all to submit your drabbles, what's a drabble ?

A drabble is a short story of exactly 100 words (Excluding Title) and for the purpose of this competition it is set in the elite : Dangerous universe and to fit the theme picked by the previous weeks winner.

We had joint winners last week Edith_The_Hutt and Experiment626. Edith picked this week's Drabble as Experiment626 decided to pull a "mysterious stranger" act on us.

"Coffee"

is the theme for this week.

Now we do have some rules...

1. Drabbles must be 100 words exactly (Excluding the title)
2. Over-use of-hyphens-to keep your word-count at 100 is very amusing but frowned upon.
3. Keep it as clean as you can to suit the family forum rules here, so no frogs attached to anatomical parts
4. Only the first 20 entries are guaranteed a place in the weekly poll
5. 1 entry each, you may write as many drabbles as you want, but it is assumed that your first drabble is your chosen entry unless otherwise advised. But please mark Drabbles that you don't want entered as such
6. If your drabble is under or over 100 words you will have a chance to correct it before the poll is erected, at this point, your drabble may be DQ'd if other drabbles are available to take its place.
7. Drabbles must be set in the Elite Dangerous universe (as loosely as you care to make it)
8. It should try to meet the theme in some arguable way.
9. If there is more than one theme you must match at least one, but can gain extra votes if you meet more.
10. It's all for a bit of fun, so enjoy yourself... Enjoyment is mandatory!

Sometimes it's difficult to know what constitutes exactly 100 words. Out arbiter is
www.wordcounter.net
It doesn't matter if it's right or wrong. Its count is the law.

So submit your drabbles in reply to this thread, and the first 20 will be guaranteed entry into this weeks poll, and read out on our live Show Friday night.
Entries close at Random O'clock on Thursday evening (or sometimes if we have 20 entries earlier). All Drabbles submitted up to Friday Afternoon will have a good chance of being read out on the live Drabble readiing show.

To anyone that finds this: Day 25,000

Coffee... I'd kill for coffee.

Just another day on the Mayhew: 4th gen. Parents, grandparents, great-grandparents... all lived and worked and died on this ship.

Hydroponics has coffee, but it's a luxury, scarce like everything else.

We make do though. We always do

Sometimes I think of who and what we left behind. Just stare out the porthole for hours, thinking.

Sometimes I see a flash; a streak of light that only flares for an instant.

"Cosmic rays hitting the optic nerve" they say. "Stay away from the outer viewports."

Sometimes I wonder.

There's another one.

...I'd kill for coffee.

Pulling an all nighter

It was the night before the exam. The father found his daughter slumped asleep over her desk, her books open and a cold pot of coffee beside her. She was soon woken by the yelling in her ear.

"Coffee!? You're taking coffee to keep you awake? Where did you get that stuff? Do you know the penalty for drinking coffee? I don't care what you and your cosmopolitan friends think. On this planet, young lady, caffeine is banned. Oh gawd! My daughter the pothead. I should've guessed by the dark rings under your eyes and that nervous twitch of yours."

Damn sorry everyone I wasn't paying attention to the forum, been so busy with other stuff. The other entries were awesome I'm surprised n humbled by the result!
Anyway thanks for the welcome & glad you liked my drabble it's an honour. Maybe next time!
Coffee is an excellent choice. If anyone's curious I would've picked "Forbidden Fruits" [alien][up]

I like my coffee how I like my shart....

Psykokow waited in his 'Frog-suit'

The majority of cubicle three had long burst free. sloshing it's highly corrosive nature across the station..

Psykokow felt a rumbling, It wasn't him he'd checked, nor was it the frog.

It was the station's trajectory entering into the upper layers of Edens thin atmosphere.

'Hot...getting Hot' Psykokow mumbled

Psykokow saw the first bubble pop, steam rising from the ooze, he'd been putting off the dive, now his only other choice was death.

Time to smell the coffee he thought giving the frog one last tug,

then diving first into the hot shart........
