The next update 2.1 Engineers (1.6 to basegame-only owners) scheduled for April release?

This. It does not say that 2.1 is delayed. Just Horizons move from Early Access to Release. Just accounting jiggery-pokery

Braben mentions delay in return for commitment to quality.... which to me seems to indicate a delayed release of Engineers.

The writing was on the wall when they released that bald Engineer pic. Its always the same, artists just can't get the hair right! Its the hair's fault :D

Engineers is spring 2016. So at the 21st of June 2016 the summer begins, which means that the latest acceptable release date of 2.1/1.6 is 20th of June 2016 at 23:59.

But to be a human rather than a machine, I expect and want this update to be released around end of April or start of May.

With early access the "product release" is usually when it comes out of early access. I suspect that they are pushing back the product release patch to co-incide with 2.2.

Then again FDev don't understand how version numbering works so who the hell knows? :)

This is a statutory declaration, required by law. They are literally unable to release this information in any other way.

FDev have a legal requirement to let their investors and share holders know about this sort of thing first. It's not a personal assault on you.

edit: ninja'd, and by a Mod to boot. Though at least I now know what the official name for this is. Cheers Ian. :D

Hmm... if it was to be June, it'd be "at the beginning of the next financial year"... it actually says, "However, this - along with associated revenues - will now take place in the first half of the next financial year.

Imho, this makes a July date more likely.

It also gives them the opportunity to delay it to the autumn, if they wish.

Beat me to it :)

FD has to handle the 'suits' first because that concerns whether they can run their business or not. As fans/backers/customers we shouldn't take offense at that, it's just how the world if business works. We will get info on this in due time and it will be relevant to us - the customers - rather than the 'suits'.

Personally, I'm happy to wait until FD are ready to release the update.
