Horizons Totally fed up with this stupid bug!!!!

So, we are told to stack our missions right. I spent several hours stacking missions and writing them down and working out loads of things I was going to do. Then travel 400 LY evading everyone and get to my destination. Then the bug where you get endless (10 in a row inderdicks) and finnaly arrive after 20 mins of the same noise and get the bug scan from a cloacked ship. It scans you no matter how many time you get away!!!! I am sooooo %$3£"&^"%" fed up!!! What is wrong with these people?

Why release these things if they are broken and FD know it???? I have just paid them another £25 for horizons to get this kind of service as usual. Which is still broken and has nothing to offer. Why did I listen to the reviews?

I have been here since beta and the same old bugs are still here. I am soooo anoyed!!!! Why did I ever think they would fix what they have first?

Rage quit? I smashed everything on my desk! Thank you FD

It is not broken.

Here is why. Take a mission, join a power or carry illegal goods and you WILL get pulled. Why the pixels know everything.

Take lots of mission and you just compound the issue.

If any security is in the system and you are carrying anything you shouldn't and they WILL meet you at the station; end of story.

If you are carrying illegal goods and you see security in the system or come up on the comms; just jump out and back into the system and often, they are gone.

1) we have never been told to stack our missions, it is a grindy way of getting credits
2) no cloaking is in the game
3) it is working as it should be (see Arry's post)

Would you mind finding a link to that dev explanation? I don't recall every seeing that, only that stacking missions (predictably) lead to higher risk.

:D S

Bugged or not...

How does taking a mission automatically inform every NPC between you and your destination?

Immersion?

Sorry mate I don't. It is on this forum. I have been away for six months while they fixed all the bugs and they did a lot but there are some more nasty ones now. I have read many people report the same bug so I don't know why you don't know about them. I don't want to waste any more time on this so you will have to look this up yourself or test it like I did. I was having such a cool time too until this bug repeated itself. It happens once per day since I came back a few days ago....

And sorry to all as I am a pretty chilled chap it's just this really wasted my day.

Stacking illegal transport missions thereby making myself a target that will ultimately cause me to throw my teddies out of the cot?

Then blaming the game & devs when things go wrong because obviously it's not me that made the error in judgement?

Nah.

You read the reviews, you knew what you were getting, you stacked the missions thereby stacking all odds of success against you.

A lesson I feel has been learned, about stacking illegal cargo missions and placing breakable objects within reach of a temper tantrum...

It's just such a silly peice of code. I don't know how it got into the game from beta? I can evade by pointing my butt to the sun and every NPC will fall out of SC. Then the coast is clear to the station. But no! Cloaked ships everywhere. 30 mins to go 1000ls even if you jump out of the system or not and even after everyone is stuck at the sun who you just evaded again! Then get to station. No one is there. Silent run to station and a scan starts. No one around???? I run. get away. Scan again. No one. Go back and within a second I have been scaned and all my misisons gone.

So there ARE cloacked ships!!! or they just want to make sure we fail now and then. It's the latter that made me so mad if it's true....

It's so not fit for the game....

Less of a bug, more of a consequence of their design choices.

It is working as designed, despite what we might say about it.

...

Whether devs said you could stack or not, is irrelevant. You can stack and get bigger rewards for doing so, therefore the game tells you to stack.

Moving one mission at a time, i've noticed my odds of getting interdicted on any particular trip (with only one smuggling mission) is about 1 in 4. It seems ED is using simple odds for each mission that are independent from other missions. This means that as you stack more missions, your odds of getting interdicted due to any one of the stacked missions is increased. It rolls the dice for each mission and at 1 in 4 you are going to get hit...a lot... even with just a few stacked. (try beating 1 in 4 odds when you have to roll 5 times)

I've had one rare time, where I stacked ten missions and didn't get bothered once, not by interdictors or folks trying to make me a turncoat. But that is pretty rare, I'd think.

...

Moral of the story...don't do things that frustrate you. Do something else in the game, play a different game or go outside. It isn't like this is news to them at this point, so either they want it this way or it is going to be tweaked.

Hey, I have been doing this all week with great sucsess! I know what I am doing ok. I done nothing different today than what I have been doing the past few days. Have you tried??? or are you just trolling?

Monk, i appreciate you taking the time but you have not listened to a word I have said. I WANT to be challenged ok!!! But not fail through a bug. It has nothing to do with being stopped!!!! It's about invisible ships scanning me within a second!!!!

Take a deep breath mate :) I don't know why any dev would advise stacking smuggling missions, especially to people new to smuggling. Best way to gain rep has nothing to do with smuggling slaves or drugs 400LY across the galaxy.

I'm going to have to disagree with you when you say there is a bug. Myself and many others stack multiple long haul missions without any issues, yes the difficulty increases, but it is most definitely manageable if you stay calm and know what you're doing. Honestly mate, I do these missions (stacking 10 plus at a time) in a Python, Type 9 and Anaconda, I never get caught and haul in 60+ million per run.

These are the main points to keep in mind.

1. For every mission you stack expect at least 1 additional NPC to follow you.

2. Always keep an eye on scanners once you drop out, you may be distracted by a pirate or authority ship, another ship can drop in while you are distracted and perform a scan.

3. Fit at least one turret (if in a slower ship) Multiple police authority ships require priority targeting, you have to be fast, target the first one, immediately target the second to prevent any scans completing.

4. If you receiving multiple interdictions by a cop - High wake out of the system and back in again, never low wake, they will follow you. I tend to just kill the cop unless I am in a system that I plan to visit again in the future.

5. This is related to a bug, whilst exiting stations a scan may not register.. You can still see if a scan has begun if you monitor your scanner, the cop symbol will turn from a square to a triangle, once the scan is complete it will turn back to a square.

6. Get yourself some decent sensors to extend your range for observing traffic around you. If you get scanned at an outpost (non millitary) it is because you have been followed in by a cop. I also tend to drop out early into outpost/stations (unlock the station before dropping) This gives you breathing room in case you are followed

You have to stay on the ball 100% if not just pick up 1 or 2 missions and get an easier ride.

See, say something the OP doesn't like and obviously I'm a troll.

You got caught out by the games mechanics, it happens, deal with it.

If you feel it is a bug, raise a ticket.

This part of the forum is not about reporting bugs, I think there may be a section that is just for that.

Can you guess what part of the forum that is?

I don't disagree with you...I want a challenge too

I still think, even the apparent bug, is a consequence of how they trigger pursuers on smuggling missions. Proabably happens when too many missions "fail" the roll and there are multiple NPCs coming after you at once. IDK...maybe not.

I would like to see the entire mechanic changed, however.

I think stacking should elevate your status as a smuggler. You are making more waves, pulling longer strings and ruffling more feathers. People are going to notice. So, if you take just 1 smuggle mission, the chance that some idiot in a Eagle will interdict you should be next to nil.

If you stack 10 or more, then if the police successfully interdict you, there should be a mess of police jumping in after him. A space style drug bust, if you will.

Cheers dude, but I know all this and have been doing this with great results. But today I was scaned and there were NO ships anywhere??? I know what to do my freind to evade.

I will chill and have a beer.... Sorry for the rant all. I do love this game but this bug really brought the worst of me out.

Take care all

ok mate, but I have to admit I think it's strange when you say no ships were around, you would think that we would all be seeing this bug. In fact I never dropped into an outpost/station or planatery port where there is no other ships around, at least one or two, and then the fuzzy targets that are temporarily out of range. There is always some sort of traffic, they all have to be monitored if you want a 100% fail free method.

Anyway, log a ticket if you think a bug really does exist, no harm in the devs taking a look. Good luck buddy!

This should be a sticky for long range smuggling tutorial!

And the being on your toes constantly is the main reason why I love these runs! I personally have not had any luck with turrets, though, maybe I am too slow getting them up and targeting the law enforcement, but they almost always manage to finish the scan. So I am back in a smaller, much nimbler ship where I can turn and face them.

As far as ranking goes, I found I scored best doing charities.

Not every NPC; just the required ones to continue the game.

Thanks guys, some nice info.

I always use my Cobra; think I lost a couple of runs in 100s; not sure how that will go, when I move up to python.

OP: Remember; the pixels know everything.

It happens. It's infuriating, sure, but when you make it instead of getting scanned you get one hell of a payday. If you keep at it and get good at those missions it'll even out.

Just repeat "goosfrabah" to yourself a few times and try again. It'll be okay.
